| Infosys Technologies on Monday said that it will increase the headcount to 4,500 from the present 1,720 employees in its Orissa development centre. |
| The company will also invest an additional Rs 100 crore. This was announced as part of the 10th anniversary of the development centre. |
| On the occasion chairman and chief mentor, N Narayana Murthy said, "Tier-2 cities like Bhubaneswar will be the growth engines for the IT Industry in India. Infosys has taken a lead in this direction by investing more than Rs 135 crore in its Bhubaneswar development centre." |
| About 80 per cent of software exports from the state comes from Infosys, making it the largest exporter from the Bhubaneswar STPI. |
| The development centre at Bhubaneswar anchors Infosys' relationships with multi-million dollar clients from Canada, Europe and North America. With a total built-up area of more than half a million square feet (46 acres), the centre presently has the capacity to accommodate over 3,300 software professionals. |
| Infosys Bhubaneswar campus not only provides state of the art software development blocks and multiple food courts, but also includes facilities that help Infoscions stay fit and have fun. |
| The Employee Care Centre provides Infoscions with recreational facilities such as squash, tennis, badminton, basketball courts, a swimming pool, a cricket ground and dormitories to relax. |
| The centre also has videoconferencing facilities, satellite links, in-house medical facility and power supply backup for uninterrupted operation. |
| Murthy added that Infosys Technologies has always been a company with a strong sense of social responsibility. |
| The Bhubaneswar centre has carried out various initiatives for the development of primary education, healthcare and rehabilitation of the underprivileged with an investment of more than Rs 5.5 crore over the years. |
