Ittiam is preferred DSP IP provider

Ittiam Systems has announced it has been rated as the world's most preferred provider of digital signal processing-based (DSP) intellectual property (IP) in the DSP Professionals Survey 2006, conducted by Forward Concepts, USA.
 
This is the third successive year in which the Bangalore-based company has topped the survey, both in software and hardware IP segments, following its top position in 2004 and 2005.
 
The firm has filed for 31 patents and has been granted one US patent till now.
 
Forward Concepts is a market research firm specialising in DSP and related segments. While respondents in USA accounted for 42.2 per cent, the rest of the world accounted for the remaining 57.8 per cent of the survey.
 
"All round innovation in Ittiam is centred on the customer and covers IP performance, delivery, support and licensing model. This recognition is a sign of customers' confidence in the company to provide DSP software and hardware IP," said Ittiam Systems Chairman and CEO Srini Rajam.
 
In 2006, Ittiam improved its technology penetration through increasing number of end products in the market bearing its IP. The firm launched its IP Video Phone solution and multi-format high definition video decode engine last year.
 
The firm will focus on categories like portable media and enterainment, in flight entertainment, internet video communication and high definition multi-format video for growth.
 
The firm, which has presence in US, Taiwan and UK, has a staff strength of more than 200. "This year, we intend to increase the headcount to 250 by recruiting staff in Europe and Korea. We expect a 30 per cent growth this year," he added.
