Nettlinx to enter media business

Hyderabad-based Internet service provider, Nettlinx Limited, is launching a regional business channel during the next financial year.

Company's executive director, Vijay Bhasker Reddy, said an amount of about Rs 25 crore was proposed to be invested in two phases in 'Nettlinx Channel Private Limited', a company to be incorporated for launching the business channel.

Nettlinx obtained its shareholders' consent on Monday to raise Rs 24 crore through the issue of 8 million preferential warrants of Rs 10 each at a premium of Rs 20 per warrant. In the process, the company's authorised share capital would also be increased from Rs 12 crore to Rs 20 crore.

Company's founder director, Loka Manohar Reddy, said Nettlinx intended to foray into the space of content delivery in multiple streams "� TV, Internet and IPTV "� and address regional language needs. "Regional programming offers tremendous opportunities," he said.

Stating that early movers in establishing media marketplaces would have a significant advantage, he said the company had realised that consumer needs were expanding beyond the mass media and segmented media to 'lifestyle media', where in consumer could be furnished with robust search, research, customisation, configuration and scheduling tools, which could be delivered on the Internet platform.
