Online readership of news and information content on a daily basis in India has seen a significant growth with 9.4 million average daily visitors on the Internet, up 34% over last year, international online readership tracker firm comScore today said.
While the total number of unique visitors grew 15% to 45.9 million, up 15% from 40 million, average minutes per user spent rose 31% to 41.6 minutes from 31.6 minutes in August, comScore said in a statement.
The Times of India led the chart in the news category with 12.7 million unique visitors in the reporting month, followed by Yahoo!-ABC News Network (10.7 million) and HT Media (8.2 million) unique visitors, it added.

Others in the list are the India Today Group, India.Com sites, Jagran sites, NDTV, OneIndia.Coim sites and the online version of the Economic Times. DivyaBhaskar.Co.In and Bhaskar.Com demonstrated especially strong engagement at 100.3 minutes and 62.1 minutes, respectively.
Many of the top domestic news sites also saw significant amount of traffic from abroad.
FirstPost.Com generated the highest share of its audience from abroad at 51.3%, followed by Malayala Manorama sites at 45%. The Times of India saw 37.8% of its audience coming from abroad.
NDTV, India.Com sites and The Indian Express Group also have more than 30% of their respective audiences coming from outside the country, comScore said.
