ProSim and Hitachi join hands to tap 300 casting units across India

Technology solutions provider ProSim and Tokyo-based ProSim have joined hands to provide simulation software support and services to casting units in India. The joint partnership aims to generate revenues up to Rs 35 core in three years' time.
The two companies are planning to tap some 300 casting units in cities like Pune, Kolhapur, Belgaum, Mumbai, Rajkot, Delhi, Agra, Bangalore and Coimbtore. ProSim managing director S Shamasundar and IJS Hitachi president Kenichi Morita announced this partnership in Pune on Thursday.
There are more than 5,000 big casting units across India. Out of these some 350 companies have turnover in excess of Rs 500 crore. The new tie-up looks at these companies to sell Hitachi's specialised simulation tool Adstefan and also provides after-sales support.
"With product development cycles becoming shorter, major manufacturers are pressurising casting units to deliver products over a short time span. We see immense potential in this sector. While we would like to sell our product to companies worth Rs 500 crore and more, other smaller ones would be offered services support," Shamasundar stated.
According to Kenichi Morita, computer simulation can help casting units increase their yield from 60 per cent to 75 per cent over a certain time period. "Simulation techniques will also help casting units to reduce rejection rate from anything around 40 per cent to 20 per cent," he added.
