Press Trust of India New Delhi
Reliance Communications has applied for 3G spectrum in seven circles - Orissa, West Bengal, Kolkata, Madhya Pradesh, North East and Assam on the 2.1Ghz band while for CDMA-based 3G trial services, it has sought spectrum in the "appropriate band", a company official said.

A Department of Telecom (DoT) official confirmed the development.

It may be recalled that Reliance Communications had earlier applied for 3G trial spectrum on the 1900 Mhz band but its case could not be considered as the band sought did not conform to the
National Frequency Allocation Plan (NFAP) for CDMA-based 3G trials, according to DoT officials.

Reliance will conduct CDMA 3G trials in six Unified circles of the four major metros as well as Bangalore and Hyderabad.
