Reliance launches Sierra wireless AirCard

The Reliance Sierra wireless AirCard functions as wireless modem, mobile phone and landline phone. With the card one can even send and receive SMS and make voice calls without the need for a network cable or phone line. The card comes at a cost of Rs 14,700 and two rental options of Rs 650 and Rs 1,500.

The Reliance Sierra wireless card fits into a standard type II PCMCIA card slot, which is available on most laptops in Reliance's CDMA 1X network offering mobility for Internet.

"The card has multi-functional data, voice and SMS capabilities and maximum data speed available is 144 kbps, but in practice the average speed may vary from 20 kbps to 30 kbps during peak hours," a company official said.
