Tata launches prepaid wireless desktop phone

Tata Indicom has announced the launch of a prepaid wireless desktop phone "� Indicom 10. Targeted at small towns and semi-urban areas, Indicom 10 is initially launched in 45 towns in Andhra Pradesh.

Priced at an activation charge of Rs 1,650, Indicom 10 is a wireless desktop phone that can be installed anywhere in the state where Tata Indicom's network coverage is available.

Indicom 10 caters to the needs of the residential and business community making it a multi-purpose device, Prabhat Pani, chief operating officer, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka Circles, Tata Teleservices, stated in a press release here on Tuesday.

With this latest offering, Tata Indicom aims to target the existing and potential landline home phone users in all small towns by offering customers the most economical rate plan - one rate across the state at 90 paise per minute. This offering would be completely prepaid.

Indicom 10 will come with a 10-digit number starting with '92' similar to that of a mobile.
