Kenexa Technologies, a provider of human capital management solutions, expects phase-I of its global development centre in Visakhapatnam to be operational by December this year.

"Construction work on the first phase of the 25-acre campus in the port city is underway and we hope to fully occupy the facility around the November-December timeframe," Raghuveer Sakuru, managing director of Kenexa, told Business Standard.

The first phase of the campus would see an investment of between $5million and $6 million and would house around 500 seats, once fully commissioned.

The company plans to scale up this number to around 2,500 in multiple phases, over the next five to 10 years.

"We would start our campus recruitment drive for the centre at Vizag, Kolkata and Orissa from July 2007," he added.

According to Sakuru, the Vizag campus would serve as the headquarters for handling work in the Asia Pacific (APAC) region out of India, and would deliver product development, recruitment process outsourcing (RPO), corporate back-office and customer services.

Stating that Kenexa had built a strong presence in the US and Europe in the human capital management space, Sakuru said that India, however, was still at a nascent stage.

"Going forward, we see huge potential for the products and services we offer today globally as there seems to be a burning issue for attracting the right talent and also retaining top performers in medium and large organisations, especially in India. We have started testing new ground in India and we are currently working with some large global customers here," he said.
