Wipro opens centre for Swiss financial group

Wipro Technologies, the global IT services division of Wipro Limited, has opened a 300-seat offshore development centre for Zurich Financial Services Group (ZFSG) in Chennai.

This is under a framework agreement signed earlier this year for Wipro Technologies to provide application development and maintenance services to Zurich in seven countries.

Soumitro Ghosh, senior vice-president "" Banking and Insurance Practice, Wipro Technologies, said the new ODC marks as an important milestone for Wipro's insurance practice.

Wipro has worked on relationship and delivery services over the last seven years at Farmers Insurance, which is part of ZFSG. Wipro did not disclose specifics of the agreement.
