Mexican officials say they have found a clandestine grave holding an undetermined number of bodies outside a town where violence last weekend resulted in six deaths and the disappearance of 43 students.
	Guerrero State Prosecutor Inaky Blanco says the grave is on the outskirts of Iguala, which is 120 miles (200 kilometers) south of Mexico City. He isn't saying how many bodies might be there or whether any could be some of the missing students.
	State officials have said that last weekend's bloodshed in Iguala started when city police shot at buses hijacked by protesting students, killing three students and wounding 25. Masked men later fired at vehicles on the highway, killing two people on a bus and one in a taxi.
	Homicide charges have been filed against 22 policemen.

A Federal Aviation Administration spokesman says a Mexico City-bound Aeromexico jet hit its brakes after the left landing gear collapsed while it was preparing to depart from a runway at Los Angeles International Airport but no injuries were reported.
	FAA spokesman Allen Kenitzer says the passengers aboard Aeromexico Flight 18 were taken off the plane on the runway and bussed to the terminal early on today.
	Kenitzer says the gear collapse caused damage to the left side wing, and the plane was briefly stranded on a runway.
	City News Service reported that there were 129 passengers aboard the newer-model Boeing 737 and they were taken off using stair trucks.
	The passengers were rebooked on other flights.

Despite a cease-fire declared a month ago between the Ukrainian forces and pro-Russian rebels, the biggest city in eastern Ukraine remains embroiled in fighting that includes daily artillery and rocket barrage hitting residential areas.
	The fighting focusing on the airport of the rebel-held city of Donetsk shows the difficulties of enforcing a truce that has held in most other areas of eastern Ukraine since it was declared on Sept. 5.
	Day after day, artillery shells and rockets fly overhead. Many explode in densely populated residential areas as the rebels have fought to dislodge Ukrainian government forces from the Donetsk airport just north of the city. Nine civilians were killed Wednesday, and a Red Cross staffer was killed Thursday. They were among scores killed and wounded since the fighting was supposed to have stopped.

Ukraine's truce in trouble amid airport battle

The parents of a missing University of Virginia student appealed today for whoever is responsible for her disappearance three weeks ago to help them find their daughter.
	Sue and John Graham, whose 18-year-old British-born daughter Hannah disappeared on September 13, issued a written and videotaped statement describing the case as a nightmare and noting that despite thousands of tips from the public, the college sophomore has not been found.
	"Somebody listening to me today either knows where Hannah is, or knows someone who has that information. We appeal to you to come forward and tell us where Hannah can be found," Sue Graham said in the taped statement. "John has already said that this is every parent's worst nightmare. Please, please, please help end this nightmare for all of us. Please help us to bring Hannah home."

Parents of missing US student ask for information

US Vice President Joe Biden apologised today to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who was angry over comments in which Biden said Erdogan had admitted that Turkey had made mistakes by allowing foreign fighters to cross into Syria.
	Erdogan denied ever saying that and told reporters in Istanbul before Biden's apology that he "will be history for me if he has indeed used such expressions."
	Biden spoke with Erdogan by phone on Saturday, the White House said.
	"The vice president apologised for any implication that Turkey or other allies and partners in the region had intentionally supplied or facilitated the growth of ISIL or other violent extremists in Syria," the White House said, referring to an acronym for the Islamic State group.
	The spat comes as Turkey, a NATO ally, is expected to define the role it will play in the US led coalition against the Islamic state militants who have captured a swath of Iraq and Syria, in some cases right up to the Turkish border.

The Dallas hospital treating the lone US Ebola patient says he is in critical condition.
	A spokeswoman for Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas issued a six-word news release about Thomas Duncan on today saying, "Mr. Duncan is in critical condition."
	She provided no further details about his condition. The hospital previously said Duncan was being kept in isolation and that his condition was serious but stable.
	Duncan travelled from disease-ravaged Liberia to Dallas last month before showing symptoms of the disease. He was treated and released from the hospital before returning two days later in an ambulance and being diagnosed with Ebola.

	Francis made a cameo appearance today at a twilight prayer vigil in St. Peter's Square on the eve of a two-week meeting of bishops aimed at making the church's teaching on sex, marriage, divorce and homosexuality relevant to today's Catholics.

The family of a leading Egyptian activist who has been on hunger strike for more than a month to protest his imprisonment says his health is deteriorating and that he has been transferred to hospital.
	The wife of Ahmed Douma, one of the icons of Egypt's 2011 uprising, says he was taken to hospital today.
	Nourhan Hefzy posted on her Facebook page a petition signed by more than 30 physicians testifying that he is "risking death." The physicians say Douma suffers severe stomach pains and is frequently vomiting.
	Douma, who is serving a three-year sentence for violating a law banning street protests without police permits, started the hunger strike along with scores of other imprisoned activists to protest the law and harsh sentences on violators.

Pro-democracy protesters were defiant in the face of attacks by opponents and warnings by the Hong Kong government to clear the streets, staging a massive rally today evening in the downtown business district they've occupied for a week.
	"Democracy now! Democracy in Hong Kong!" thousands chanted as speakers from the movement seeking wider political reforms for this former British colony urged them to persist in their campaign. The rally lasted hours, with participants at times clapping and cheering as a stream of speakers and singers addressed them and performed popular songs.
	"We are not seeking revolution. We just want democracy!" said Joshua Wong, a 17-year-old student leader. "We hope there will be no violence," he said. "It would be unfortunate if this movement ended with bloodshed and violence."

Doctors Without Borders says the French nurse who became infected with Ebola while working in Liberia has recovered from the disease.
	The medical charity, which has shouldered a large part of the response to the West African outbreak, said Saturday that it received confirmation from the French Health Ministry that the woman had survived the disease. She was evacuated from Liberia and cared for at a hospital near Paris.
	The University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf in Germany also said Saturday that a Senegalese scientist who was infected with Ebola in Sierra Leone has recovered and been discharged.
	Doctors and nurses have becomes infected in particularly large numbers in this outbreak. The World Health Organisation says 382 health workers have been infected, and more than half of them have died.

French nurse infected with Ebola has recovered

The raging Ebola outbreak that has killed more than 3,400 people in West Africa cast a pall today over celebrations in the region of Eid al-Adha, one of Islam's most important holidays.
	In Guinea, the day appeared almost as any other. The usual fields and squares where people gather to pray on the holiday were empty, as people heeded their government's warning to avoid large gatherings.
	People slaughtered their sheep the traditional rite of Eid in small groups at home, rather than at the usual large parties. Merchants complained that few people bought new clothes, as is typical for the holiday, called Tabaski in many parts of West Africa.

Thailand's 86-year-old king was admitted to a Bangkok hospital and being treated for a fever that doctors believe was caused by an infection, the palace said today.
	King Bhumibol Adulyadej arrived at Siriraj Hospital late yesterday night from his seaside palace 200 kilometres southwest of the capital.
	The palace said in a statement that when he arrived he had high fever, an increased heart rate and a blood test showed he had an infection.
	The statement said that "after giving (the king) intravenous antibiotics, his blood pressure has stabilised and his fever has decreased." It said the king would undergo tests to determine the cause of the infection.
	Worries about the king's health and succession have contributed to Thailand's political instability of the last eight years.

An apparently errant tweet by the Taliban's spokesman in Afghanistan gave his location as being in neighboring Pakistan.
	Yesterday, a tweet by Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid claiming an attack included geolocation information that suggested he sent the message from Sindh, Pakistan.
	Mujahid later sent a tweet today describing the location leak as an "enemy plot." He also offered his Afghan telephone number to confirm his identity and wrote: "With full confidence, I can say that I am in my own country."
	Twitter says such geolocation data is based on latitude and longitude data or other information provided by users at the time of their message.
	In an explanation of geolocation, Twitter itself warns: "Remember, once you post something online, it's out there for others to see.

Errant Taliban tweet claims spokesman in Pakistan

An Internet video released purports to show an Islamic State group fighter beheading British hostage Alan Henning, the fourth such killing carried out by the extremist group now targeted in US-led airstrikes.
	The video mirrored other beheading videos shot by the Islamic State group, which now holds territory along the border of Syria and Iraq, and ended with a militant threatening a man they identified as an American named Peter Kassig.
	"Obama, you have started your aerial bombardment of Sham (Syria), which keeps on striking our people, so it is only right that we continue to strike the necks of your people," the masked militant in the video said.

Four-time defending champion Sebastian Vettel will leave Red Bull at the end of the season, with the team expecting him to join Ferrari.
     Vettel told Red Bull chief Christian Horner on Friday night that he intended to leave, and the team made the formal announcement on today ahead of qualifying at the Japanese Grand Prix.
     Red Bull immediately named a replacement, promoting Daniil Kvyat from its associated team Toro Rosso to join Daniel Ricciardo in a youthful 2015 lineup.

More than 80 years after her death, a New Jersey nun credited with curing a boy's eye disease is set to be beatified today.
	Sister Miriam Teresa Demjanovich, who died in 1927 at age 26, is scheduled to be beatified in a ceremony led by Cardinal Angelo Amato at the Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart in Newark. The ceremony is the third in the four-step process to sainthood.
	Sister Miriam Teresa is credited with curing a boy's macular degeneration in the 1960s, according to the Archdiocese of Newark. The boy, Michael Mencer, was given a lock of the sister's hair and prayed to her. The effects of the eye disease soon began to fade, church officials say.
	"Within a period of six weeks, it was totally reversed," said Sister Mary Canavan, of the Sisters of Charity.
	Mencer did not return calls for comment.
	The beatification comes less than a year after the event was certified as a miracle by Pope Francis, though church officials started the process in 1945 when the bishop of Paterson

Peruvian officials say suspected Shining Path rebels killed two police officers and wounded a third in an ambush of a convoy transporting ballot boxes for tomorrow's regional and municipal elections.
	Police say the attackers opened fire with assault rifles just before dawn yesterday on four vehicles carrying 28 police officers near the town of Machente in the southeastern region of Ayacucho.
	As much as one-fifth of the world's cocaine is produced in the region known as the Apurimac and Ene river valley, and authorities say the Shining Path remnants operating there are principally drug traffickers.
