The Union Territory of Lakshadweep is a cluster of 36 islands in the Laccadive Sea off the south-western coast of India. It has one Lok Sabha seat. In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, this seat was one by the Nationalist Congress Party’s Mohammed Faizal P P, with a vote share of 50.2 per cent.
At the time of the previous general elections in 2014, Lakshadweep had a total of 49,922 registered electors, of whom 86.62 per cent, or 43,242, exercised their right to franchise across 44 polling stations to choose their only Member of Parliament from among 6 candidates.
