Benny Safdie is the writer, director, co-producer, and editor of the American biographical sports drama film The Smashing Machine. Dwayne Johnson plays former amateur wrestler and mixed martial arts fighter Mark Kerr, while Emily Blunt plays Kerr's girlfriend Dawn Staples. 
 
Ryan Bader, Bas Rutten, and Oleksandr Usyk play supporting parts. The film is based on the 2002 documentary The Smashing Machine: The Life and Times of Extreme Fighter Mark Kerr.
