AAP holds protest against action of central agencies against its leaders

Aam Aadmi Party workers held a demonstration on the DDU Marg here on Tuesday to protest the action of central agencies against its leaders. The protest took place hours after the Enforcement Directorate (ED) raided AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan's residence here as part of a money-laundering investigation against him and some others. Several protesters were detained by the police as they tried to march from the AAP office to the BJP headquarters on DDU Marg. Former Delhi deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia and AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh are currently in jail in a money-laundering case linked to alleged irregularities in the implementation of the now-scrapped excise policy. AAP leaders, including Kejriwal, have strongly denied the allegations and claimed that the cases registered by probe agencies are false.

Govt bungalow allocation row: AAP leader Raghav Chadha moves Delhi HC

AAP MP Raghav Chadha on Tuesday approached the Delhi High Court challenging a trial court's decision to vacate an interim order which stopped the Rajya Sabha secretariat from dispossessing him from the government bungalow allotted to him. The plea was mentioned for urgent hearing before a bench of Chief Justice Satish Chandra Sharma and Justice Sanjeev Narula which agreed to list it on Wednesday. Chadha's counsel submitted that the Member of Parliament has been served with a notice and eviction proceedings are going on. She said earlier there was a stay from the trial court but now it has been removed. The trial court in an October 5 order has said that Chadha cannot claim that he has an absolute right to continue to occupy the government bungalow during his entire tenure as a Rajya Sabha MP even after the cancellation of allotment. The trial court had made the observation while vacating an interim order passed on April 18 that had directed the Rajya Sabha Secretariat not to ...

Opposing the arrest, Thakur said these allegations and arrests are nothing but political conspiracies against AAP and opposition leaders. Talking to the media persons, Thakur said it is very unfortunate that the central government is arresting AAP leaders without any solid reason and asked the government to provide strong evidence against the leaders. "Even I can say that I have paid Rs 15 lakh to Prime Minister Narendra Modi

Raghav Chadha cannot claim absolute right to occupy govt bungalow: Court

A Delhi court has said that AAP's Raghav Chadha cannot claim that he has an absolute right to continue to occupy the government bungalow during his entire tenure as a Member of the Rajya Sabha even after the cancellation of allotment. Additional District Judge Sudhanshu Kaushik made the observation while vacating an interim order passed on April 18 that had directed the Rajya Sabha Secretariat not to dispossess Chadha from the government bungalow. Reacting to the order, Chadha said he would be taking appropriate action in law in due course. "The trial court had initially accepted my plea and granted me interim relief. It has now returned my case on a legal technicality, which I am legally advised to state is based on an incorrect understanding of the law. Delhi court sends AAP leader Sanjay Singh to ED custody till Oct 10

A Delhi court Thursday sent senior AAP leader Sanjay Singh to the custody of the Enforcement Directorate for five days, a day after the anti-money laundering agency arrested him in the Delhi excise policy case. Special Judge M K Nagpal remanded Singh in ED custody till October 10 to enable the federal probe agency to interrogate him. The AAP Rajya Sabha MP will be produced before the court on expiry of his custody. While being brought to the courtroom, Singh said his arrest was an act of injustice by Prime Minister Narendra Modi whose party was going to lose the next Lok Sabha elections. Singh was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate on Wednesday in connection with its money laundering probe linked to the 2021-22 Delhi Excise policy case, in a huge blow to the city's ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). "This is Modiji's injustice. He will lose election, he is losing election," he told journalists. Later, when the court asked him whether he wanted to say something, Singh claimed he w

ED 'targeting' Sanjay Singh for raising Adani matter in Parliament: AAP

The AAP on Wednesday alleged that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has targeted their Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh as he raised issues related to the Adani Group in Parliament. The party was reacting to the ED raids on the premises of Singh in connection with the Delhi excise policy-linked money laundering case, officials said. Sanjay Singh kept on raising questions on the issue of Adani and this is why the raids are being conducted at his residence. The central agencies found nothing earlier and won't find anything today either. First, they conducted raids at the residence of some journalists yesterday and today, raids conducted at Sanjay Singh's residence, AAP spokesperson Reena Gupta said. Sanjay Singh's father Dinesh Singh said they are cooperating with the ED. The ED is doing their job. I don't know the exact time but around 7.30 am they came to conduct raids...I told ED officials they can conduct raids until late at night, we don't want them to visit again and again, he said.

ED raids AAP MP Sanjay Singh's premises in Delhi excise policy case

The Enforcement Directorate on Wednesday morning raided the premises of AAP MP Sanjay Singh in connection with the Delhi excise policy-linked money laundering case, officials said. Some other premises of linked people were also being covered, they said. Singh, 51, is a Rajya Sabha MP from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). His staff members and those linked to him were earlier questioned by the ED in this case. It is alleged that the Delhi government's excise policy for 2021-22 to grant licences to liquor traders allowed cartelisation and favoured certain dealers who had allegedly paid bribes for it, a charge strongly refuted by the AAP. The policy was subsequently scrapped and the Delhi lieutenant governor recommended a CBI probe, following which the ED registered a case under the PMLA.

Modi a coward for raiding journalists: AAP slams Centre on NewsClick raids

The Aam Aadmi Party on Tuesday slammed the BJP-led Centre over raids at online news portal NewsClick's premises, saying it is "scared" of journalists. Delhi Police's Special Cell on Tuesday morning conducted raids at 30 premises connected with NewsClick as well as its journalists' houses, triggering outrage among scribes. AAP chief national spokesperson Priyanka Kakkar alleged that the Modi government is pretending to fight China by arresting its own journalists because it didn't have the courage to engage with it directly. "There are two types of journalists in the country there are those who have surrendered before Modi ji and who are being rewarded every day by Modi ji. And then there are those who are fighting for the country and exposing the shortcomings of the Modi government. "Modi ji is a coward. He is threatening those journalists by arresting them on ridiculous charges," Kakkar told PTI. She alleged that China made forays into the Indian territory, yet the central ...
