With buoyancy in capital markets, investors are increasing looking at alternative investment funds (AIFs), which offer high investment flexibility.According to data compiled from the Securities and Exchange Board of India(Sebi), the industry has raised investment commitments worth nearly Rs 1 lakh crore as of June 2017 - a fourfold jump from Rs 24,873 crore two years back.Market participants say, this surge in the popularity of AIFs is on account of stellar returns given by the existing funds along with easing of regulatory framework. In the last three years, Sebi along with the government have ushered several relaxations in the AIF regime.
