Amazon partners with Startup India, DPIIT to enhance startups growth

Amazon India has partnered with Startup India, under the aegis of the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), to help startups scale growth through e-commerce. Through a dedicated page on the Startup India portal, the e-commerce firm and Startup India will work together to allow eligible startups to make use of e-commerce opportunities by registering on Amazon India's marketplace. The startups will gain access to the domestic market, mentorship from Amazon leaders, go-to-market support and logistics guidance, according to a company statement. NCERT books will now be sold on Amazon as well via authorised sellers

NCERT textbooks for students from Kindergarten to Class 12 as well as for UPSC aspirants will now be sold by authorised sellers on Amazon India website as well, the e-commerce firm said on Monday. Amazon India said that it has partnered with the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) to facilitate the sale of books at maximum retail price (MRP) across all serviceable pin codes in India. Amazon India said that it has partnered "with the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) to expand the availability of textbooks for students from Kindergarten to Class 12, as well as UPSC aspirants, through Amazon.in". In addition to serving individual customers, Amazon.in will work with NCERT on bulk ordering for government agencies and schools. Amazon on Monday said it has acquired free streaming OTT platform MX Player and merged it with its content streaming service miniTV to launch 'Amazon MX Player'. Amazon did not disclose the valuation of the acquisition. The merger aims to make premium-free entertainment accessible to a larger audience. Festive season: Amazon sees majority of customer visits from tier-2 cities

E-commerce firm Amazon India on Tuesday said that 80 per cent of customer visits on the platform in the first 48 hours of its annual festive season sale came from tier-2 and other smaller cities. The Amazon Great Indian Festival sale started on September 27, 2024, with 24-hour early access for Prime members. "The Amazon Great Indian Festival witnessed a record 11 crore customer visits in the first 48 hours of Amazon Great Indian Festival 2024 with 80 per cent hailing from Tier-2 and below towns," Amazon said in a statement, terming the demand from these towns as "encouraging". More than 75 per cent of all smartphone sales, about 80 per cent of all TV orders, and over 60 per cent of orders in the fashion and beauty segment came from tier-2 and beyond cities, it said.
