The Andhra Pradesh government is expected to present the state budget on Monday, during the assembly session starting tomorrow, according to official sources. The budget is expected to be presented with just over four months remaining in the FY 2024-25. Andhra drone policy should be best in country: CM Chandrababu to officials

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday asked officials to ensure that the drone policy the state is drafting is the best in the country. The chief minister reviewed the policy for 2024-29 which entails the goals of the Andhra Pradesh Drone Corporation over the next five years. "The drone policy being drafted by our state should be the best in the country. Ensure that Andhra Pradesh emerges as the best centre for the drone industry in the country," Naidu said in a statement. Offering attractive incentives, Naidu said drone manufacturers should be roped into the southern state to make investments. He called on the officials to develop Orvakal in Kurnool district as a drone manufacturing hub. Finmin starts phase 4 of RRB consolidation, number to fall from 43 to 28

In a bid to achieve operational efficiency and cost rationalisation, the Finance Ministry has initiated the fourth round of consolidation for Regional Rural Banks (RRBs) and the number of such banks is likely to come down to 28 from 43 at present. As per the roadmap prepared by the Finance Ministry, 15 RRBs operating in various states would be merged. Among states that will see consolidation of RRBs include Andhra Pradesh, which has the maximum number of RRBs (4), Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal (3 each), and Bihar, Gujarat, Jammu & Kashmir, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha and Rajasthan (2 each). In the case of Telangana, the amalgamation of RRBs will be subject to bifurcation of assets and liabilities of Andhra Pradesh Grameena Vikas Bank (APGVB) between APGVB and Telangana Grameena Bank. Andhra govt to call fresh tenders for Amaravati development works soon

The Andhra Pradesh government will soon call fresh tenders for the state capital development works here, state Municipal Minister P Narayana has said. Addressing reporters after the 39th Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) meeting, Narayana said, World Bank agreed to give Rs 15,000 crore for Amaravati development works but insisted on completing flood prevention works as soon as possible. Consequently, action will be taken to build reservoirs within the 217 sq km Amravati core capital region and outside. The Municipal Minister said the old tenders called for Amaravati will be closed soon and fresh tenders will be called to complete Amaravati works in three years. A man died after the firecrackers he was carrying on a two-wheeler exploded in Eluru town on Thursday, police said. The incident occurred when two persons were transporting a bag of firecrackers bought for Diwali celebrations. The bag containing "onion bombs" and other crackers exploded after falling on the road, resulting in the death of the rider on the spot, a senior police official told PTI based on preliminary investigation. The pillion rider and two others standing on the roadside suffered injuries and were admitted to a hospital. According to police, the impact of the blast was so severe that the legs and other body parts of the two-wheeler rider got dismembered.
