Assam flood situation worsens; over 262,000 affected, two more dead

The flood situation worsened in Assam on Sunday with two more persons losing their lives and over 2.62 lakh people reeling under the deluge in 12 districts, an official bulletin said. Five major rivers, including the Brahmaputra at two places, were flowing over the danger level, it said. Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal reviewed the situation in his Lok Sabha constituency Dibrugarh, which has been severely affected, especially with the district headquarters town remaining underwater for several days, another official release said. Two deaths have been reported from Dhemaji, taking the toll in this year's flood, storm and landslide to 44, the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) bulletin said. Assam flood situation improves as water level recedes, 170K still affected

The flood situation in Assam improved on Tuesday as the water level of major rivers receded with declining rainfall and the number of people reeling under the deluge decreased to 1.7 lakh, according to a bulletin. The Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) said 1,70,377 people are currently affected by the flood in Bajali, Barpeta, Cachar, Darrang, Goalpara, Kamrup, Karimganj, Nagaon and Hojai districts. Over two lakh people were reeling under the deluge in the nine districts of the state on Sunday. The toll in this year's flood, landslide and storm has risen to 40 with the death of one person in Cachar due to drowning in floodwater on Monday. The worst affected district is Karimganj with 96,440 people under floodwater, followed by Cachar with over 52,400 and Darrang with nearly 10,802, the bulletin said. Flood situation continues to be grim in Assam, over 117,000 people affected

The flood situation in Assam continued to remain grim on Sunday with over 1.17 lakh people still reeling under the deluge across 10 districts of the state, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said. The flood waters have inundated 968 villages in 27 revenue circles in these districts, he said in a post on X. The authorities are presently running 134 relief camps and 94 relief distribution centres, where a total of 17,661 people are taking shelter currently, he added. Assam flood situation improves marginally; 54 evacuated, toll rises to 39

The flood situation in Assam improved marginally as the number of affected people and districts decreased though two more deaths were reported, an official bulletin said on Saturday. Two deaths were reported in the state in the last 24 hours, taking the toll in this year's flood, landslide and storm to 39, an Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) bulletin said. Rivers Kopili and Kushiyara continued to flow above the danger level at Dharamtul and Karimganj respectively. More than 390K people continue to reel under flood in Assam, say officials

More than 3.90 lakh people continued to reel under floodwater in Assam as the overall situation remained grim, officials said on Saturday. Even though there was a marginal improvement in the flood situation with receding rainfall bringing respite in some parts of the state, 19 districts still remained affected, they said. The death toll in this year's flood, landslides and storm has reached 37, while one person is missing, the officials said. Altogether 3,90,491 people remained affected in Kamrup, Tamulpur, Hailakandi, Udalguri, Hojai, Dhubri, Barpeta, Biswanath, Nalbari, Bongaigaon, Baksa, Karimganj, South Salmara, Goalpara, Darrang, Bajali, Nagaon, Cachar and Kamrup Metropolitan districts as on Friday evening. Flood situation worsens in Assam, more than 100,000 people affected

The flood situation in Assam worsened on Monday with over 1.05 lakh people reeling under the deluge across eight districts, an official bulletin said. According to the daily flood report of the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), more than 1,05,700 people are hit due to the floods in Baksa, Barpeta, Darrang, Dhemaji, Goalpara, Karimganj, Nagaon and Nalbari districts. Karimganj is the worst hit with over 95,300 people suffering, followed by Nagaon where nearly 5,000 people were affected and Dhemaji with more than 3,600 people reeling under flood waters, it said. Assam: More than 625K affected by devastating floods, 5 more dead

The flood situation in Assam deteriorated on Monday with five more persons losing their lives, while over 6.25 lakh are reeling under the deluge across 10 districts, an official bulletin said. According to the daily report of the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), three people at Sonai and one person at Silchar revenue circles of Cachar district died due to the flood. Besides, one more person lost his life in Kamrup Metropolitan district owing to landslides, it said. With this, the toll in this year's flood, landslide and storm rose to 23. Assam flood death toll rises to 15, over 600,000 affected by heavy rains

The death toll in floods in Assam increased to 15 after three more persons lost their lives in the calamity, as the number of affected population went up to over six lakh, an official bulletin said on Saturday. The number of affected people was 3.5 lakh in 11 districts on Friday. An Assam State Disaster Management Authority release, however, said the number of affected districts has come down to 10. One death each was reported from Cachar, Hailakandi and Karimganj districts, taking the toll in floods and storms from May 28 to 15. Assam's flood situation worsened on Thursday with over 1.98 lakh people affected in nine districts, and one person drowning to death as the water level of major rivers rose following incessant rainfall in the aftermath of Cyclone Remal, officials said. The flood situation in Assam deteriorated on Tuesday as over three lakh people were affected by the deluge in 21 districts of the state, an official bulletin said. Over 65,500 people still affected by flood across 7 districts in Assam

Two more persons died on Monday due to flood in Assam, while the number of affected people across seven districts came down to 65,500, an official bulletin said. According to the daily flood report of the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), two persons lost their lives due to the deluge in Chariduar of Sonitpur district.
