'I have not returned empty handed' from India: Bangladesh PM Hasina

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said on Wednesday that her recent visit to India benefitted Bangladesh and she has not returned "empty handed" and emphasised that her trip has opened up a new horizon in the relationship between the two friendly neighbouring countries. During Hasina's visit, India and Bangladesh signed seven agreements, including one on sharing of waters of Kushiyara river which is expected to benefit the regions of southern Assam and Bangladesh's Sylhet region. "They (India) have shown much sincerity and I have not returned empty handed," Hasina told reporters here, nearly after a week she returned home following a four-day visit to India from September 5 to 8. Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has urged Indian businesses to invest in her country's infrastructure projects, manufacturing, energy and transport sectors. During her four-day state visit to India, Hasina made the pitch to attract Indian investors to Bangladesh at a business event organised by the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) on Wednesday. Mamata pans Centre for not inviting her to be part of Bangladesh PM's visit

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday slammed the Centre for not inviting her to be a part of Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's ongoing visit to India. Banerjee also said she was curious over why the BJP-led central government was worried about her meeting Hasina. "I share an excellent relationship with Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina, but (the Centre) did not invite me to be a part of her visit," she said while addressing a special session of the Trinamool Congress. "I don't want to talk about external affairs or bilateral ties. But, I have noticed that the Centre tries to stop me whenever I am invited to any foreign country. Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina visits Ajmer Sharif Dargah amid tight security

Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina paid obeisance at the dargah of Sufi saint Khwaja Moinuddin Chisti in Ajmer on Thursday afternoon. India and Bangladesh are likely to unveil a raft of measures to boost cooperation in areas of defence, trade and river water sharing during Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's four-day trip to India beginning Monday.
