Essar Group firm Black Box earmarks Rs 100 cr to ramp up India presence

Essar Group firm Black Box, a global digital infrastructure integrator, has earmarked about Rs 100 crore to fuel its India expansion, as it looks to more than double its India business in the next few years. A huge chunk of this investment -- which represents about a quarter of Black Box's recent Rs 410 crore fundraise -- will be used to strengthen the firm's Center of Excellence in Bengaluru, where the company plans to double its workforce to about 1,000 employees over the next year. Bengaluru sees 59% rise in luxury home sales to ₹1,000 cr in FY25: Report

Bengaluru's housing market witnessed a 59 per cent growth in sales of luxury homes, costing Rs 10 crore and above, in the last fiscal at a record Rs 1,000 crore on high demand, according to India Sotheby's International Realty and CRE Matrix report. Real estate consultant India Sotheby's International Realty (ISIR) and real estate data analytics firm CRE Matrix's recent report mentioned that Bengaluru's luxury housing market (Rs 10 crore and above) achieved sale bookings of Rs 1,000 crore in 2024-25 against Rs 627 crore in the preceding year. In volume terms, sales of luxury homes rose to 78 units from 51 units. The report stated that Rs 10-12 crore ticket-size apartments are seeing the highest sales in Bengaluru's luxury segment. Canadian detained after bomb scare on Varanasi-Bengaluru IndiGo flight

Panic broke out at Varanasi airport after a foreign national aboard a Bengaluru-bound IndiGo flight claimed he was carrying a bomb, police said on Sunday. The incident took place on Saturday night, police said, adding that the passenger, a Canadian, has been detained. Security sleuths are questioning the man, officials said. Following the bomb scare, the aircraft was moved to the isolation bay for a thorough inspection, but no explosive material was found, said Puneet Gupta, Director of the airport. Gupta said the IndiGo crew promptly informed the Air Traffic Control (ATC) about the threat after the passenger's claim. The flight was grounded and inspected as per standard security protocols. After receiving clearance from security agencies, the aircraft departed for Bengaluru on Sunday morning, officials said. A detailed probe is on in the matter.

Road rage case: HC bars police from coercive action against IAF officer

Karnataka High Court has restrained the Bengaluru city police from initiating any coercive steps against Indian Air Force Wing Commander Shiladitya Bose in connection with a road rage case. The interim direction was issued by Justice Hemant Chandangoudar on April 24, following a petition filed by the officer challenging the FIR lodged against him. The incident took place near C V Raman Nagar on 21 April. Initially, the police registered an FIR based on a complaint lodged by Bose, alleging he was assaulted by Vikas Kumar S J, a call centre employee. Subsequently, a counter-complaint was lodged by Kumar, leading to a second FIR being registered against the IAF officer. In its interim order, the court instructed the police not to take any coercive steps against Bose or summon him without adhering to proper legal procedure. Bengaluru Metro to fine passengers for consuming chewable tobacco products

Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) on Wednesday announced that passengers found consuming chewable tobacco-based products within metro premises and trains will be fined. For this, the BMRCL will strengthen its patrolling efforts during non-peak hours, it said. According to the BMRCL, this step has been taken in an effort to address public grievances about passengers using chewable tobacco-based products and to avoid consequent spitting and littering within metro premises and trains. Since possession of such substances cannot be detected through metal detectors, BMRCL said it has decided to implement random physical pat-down checks at all metro stations. Sumadhura Group to invest ₹250 cr in 4 years for Bengaluru housing project

Realty firm Sumadhura Group will invest Rs 250 crore to develop a housing project in Bengaluru. In a statement on Tuesday, the company said it has entered South Bengaluru with the launch of project 'Codename Uru' located in Kenchanhalli. Spread over 3.25 acres of land, this landmark project is expected to generate a topline of Rs 500 crore. The project, which is expected to be completed by December 2029, will have 297 homes across two towers of 28 floors each. The company will invest about Rs 250 crore over the next four years to develop this housing project. Realty firm Brigade Enterprises Ltd will develop a 20-acre project, comprising residential plots, in Bengaluru with an estimated revenue of Rs 175 crore. In a regulatory filing on Monday, the company said it has signed a joint development agreement (JDA) for a plotted development project in Malur, East Bengaluru. "... An FIR has been registered against a 40-year-old IAF officer based on a counter-complaint by a call centre employee, who was previously arrested on the officer's complaint in a road rage incident, police said on Tuesday. Indian Air Force Wing Commander Shiladitya Bose made an allegation in a video he shared that he was attacked and verbally abused by a group of Kannada-speaking individuals who chased him on a bike in Bengaluru early Monday morning. Karnataka's ex-DGP found dead at his home under mysterious circumstances

Former Karnataka Director General of Police Om Prakash was found dead under mysterious circumstances at his HSR Layout residence in Bengaluru on Sunday, police said. His body was found with injuries, raising suspicion that he may have been murdered, they added. The 68-year-old IPS officer from the 1981 batch was a native of Champaran in Bihar and held an MSc in Geology. He was appointed as the Director General of Police on March 1, 2015. Senior police officials rushed to the spot upon receiving the information. Police suspect the involvement of a close family member.
