Look at Karnataka BJP's 'disastrous legacy': Siddaramaiah tells PM Modi

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has hit back at Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his 'guarantees' comment, saying he should look at the 'disastrous' legacy of BJP Karnataka unit before pointing fingers at the Congress. He joined the war of words between the Congress and the BJP over AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge's remark on poll guarantees at a party event. "Mr. @narendramodi, before pointing fingers at Congress, take a hard look at @BJP4Karnataka's disastrous legacy in Karnataka! We are fulfilling every promise we made to our people all 5 guarantees implemented with a budget over Rs 52,000 crore, and an additional Rs 52,903 crore in capital outlay to build Karnataka's future," Siddaramaiah said in a post on 'X'. He alleged that the BJP left Karnataka plagued with 40 per cent commission corruption, draining resources that could have transformed lives. "We're using that same 40 per cent redirecting it to benefit the people. What was your 'achievement' here? Empowering ...

BJP MLA Yatnal demands PM Modi to nationalise Waqf owned properties

Karnataka BJP MLA Basanagouda Patil Yatnal has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to nationalise the Waqf properties. He said the overreach of the Waqf Boards and the lack of accountability have led to significant distress among property owners. Calling it a "Tyranny of Waqf Board", the former union minister said it is claiming lands of farmers, mutts, temples and landowners, which is against the principles of equality enshrined in our Constitution. The current Waqf Act, under which Waqf Boards operate, has led to widespread issues, including the unauthorised acquisition of private lands, farms, historical institutions, and even properties predating independence, the Vijayapura BJP MLA alleged. "In light of these concerns, I humbly request your esteemed office to consider nationalising Waqf properties to ensure fair administration and to prevent further injustices," the MLA said. "The overreach and apparent lack of accountability have led to significant distress among propert

BJP diverting common man's issues: Cong on Jharkhand CM's age controversy

The Congress on Friday accused the BJP of diverting common man's issues by lodging a complaint with the Election Commission, alleging that Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren provided wrong information about his age in the poll affidavit. BJP's Barhait nominee Gamliyel Hembrom filed the complaint with the EC on October 30, alleging that Soren provided wrong information about his age in the affidavit. Speaking to reporters here over the BJP's allegation regarding the age of Soren, Congress general secretary KC Venugopal said, "They will tell new things to divert common man's issues." Hembrom, in his complaint, alleged that Soren mentioned 42 years as his age in the affidavit filed in the 2019 Jharkhand assembly elections. "For the 2024 assembly polls, he mentioned 49 years as his age in the affidavit. How can the age of a person increase by seven in five years," Hembrom claimed in the complaint. The BJP's Barhait nominee, who is contesting against the chief minister, demanded ...

BJP says AAP's failure to repair damaged roads worsened Delhi pollution

The BJP on Friday claimed Delhi's air quality had worsened due to AAP and Arvind Kejriwal's failure to repair the city's damaged roads by October 31 and not the firecrackers burst on Diwali. Leader of Opposition in the Delhi Assembly Vijender Gupta, who visited the Shastri Park area on Friday, claimed hundreds of roads in the city were lying in disrepair despite promises by former chief minister Kejriwal and his successor Atishi to repair them before Diwali. "AAP should stop indulging in politics and blame game and focus on local sources of pollution such as dust that are more responsible for the hazardous air quality in Delhi," Gupta said. He said the air pollution situation in Delhi was as bad as it was before Diwali and added that AAP and Kejriwal should stop "misleading" the people. They said the rise in pollution was due to the firecrackers, indulging in politics over the issue, he charged. "If all the damaged roads in the city are repaired and sanitation is improved, polluti
