Indra Nooyi being considered to lead World Bank: report

Indra Nooyi is among the candidates being considered by the White House to head the World Bank after the India-born former PepsiCo CEO's name was floated by Ivanka Trump, the president's influential daughter, a top American daily reported. Nooyi, 63, stepped down as PepsiCo's chief last August after leading the company for 12 years. She "has been courted as an administration ally by Ivanka Trump, the president's eldest daughter who is playing a role in the selection of a nominee," the The New York Times said. The report, which cited several people familiar with the process, said the decision-making process for the top post at the World Bank is "fluid and in its initial stages and early front-runners and candidates often fall off the radar, or withdraw from consideration, before the president (Donald Trump) makes his ultimate pick". HT Media net profit falls 68.66% to Rs 42.91 cr in December quarter

HT Media Wednesday reported a 68.66 per cent decline in consolidated net profit at Rs 42.91 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2018. The company had posted a consolidated net profit of Rs 136.96 crore for the December quarter of the previous financial year. Its total income stood at Rs 664.89 crore, lower as compared with Rs 681.7 crore in the same period a year ago, HT Media said in a BSE filing. HT Media's total expenses grew to Rs 637.8 crore in the third quarter of this financial year, against Rs 533.21 crore reported in the corresponding period a year ago. The company's shares were trading 1.15 per cent down at Rs 47.15 apiece on the BSE.

RBI Governor to meet industry chambers on Thursday

Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor Shaktikanta Das will meet industry chambers on Thursday to understand their issues and concerns. After his taking over as 25th Governor of the RBI last month, he has been holding consultations with various stakeholders including banks, non-banking financial companies and micro, small and medium enterprises. "Will meet the apex chambers/associations of industry and commerce tomorrow (17th January)," Das said in a tweet. The meeting comes ahead of the sixth bi-monthly monetary policy statement for 2018-19 scheduled to be announced on February 7. Industry has been pitching for the rate cut amid falling inflation and factory output. One in three UN workers experienced sexual harassment in last 2 years: Survey

One in three staff and non-staff personnel at the UN experienced sexual harassment in the last two years, a new report released by the world body said, amid the global #MeToo movement against sexual harassment and assault. The confidential survey obtained information on sexual harassment across the United Nations system and related entities globally. The survey was completed by 30,364 staff and non-staff personnel from across 31 entities, representing a 17 per cent response rate overall. The survey 'Safe Space: Survey on Sexual Harassment in our Workplace' found that one in three (33 per cent) respondents reported that they had experienced at least one instance of sexual harassment in the last two years. Overall, 10,032 out of the total 30,364 respondents (33 per cent) had experienced an incident of sexual harassment in the last two years. Gaurs group raises Rs 640 cr from PNB Housing to complete 2 projects in Gr Noida

Realty firm Gaurs group has raised Rs 640 crore from PNB Housing Finance Ltd as debt for the construction of its two ongoing projects in Greater Noida. The company would utilise the fund to complete its commercial project 'Gaur City Mall' and a housing project '7th Avenue' at Greater Noida West, also known as Noida Extension, in the National Capital Region (NCR). These two projects are part of 237-acre township 'Gaur City'. "PNB Housing Finance has been our partner and we have been working closely with them for years now. We have raised Rs 640 crore at a very competitive rate," Gaurs group MD Manoj Gaur said. Gaur City Mall project has a leasable area of 8 lakh sq ft. It also has 1,300 office spaces, 295 rooms-hotel and 120 service apartments. The 7th Avenue project has around 3,000 housing units.
