Govt designates CISF as main security organisation for seaports

In a move to strengthen security across major and minor Indian seaports, the Centre has designated the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) as the new safety regulator for the about 250 maritime facilities, officials said on Friday. The designation of the central paramilitary force under the Union Home Ministry has been done by the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways through an order issued on November 18, CISF Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Ajay Dahiya said. This is a significant reform and a path-breaking step to enhance security across India's seaports. As ports play a vital role in trade, logistics and India's growing Blue Economy, the government is introducing a series of measures to modernise and standardise port security nationwide, he said. 'Suspicious looking' man apprehended from outside Parliament House

A 20-year-old "suspicious" man was apprehended by the CISF on Saturday from near Parliament House Complex, an officer said. The person has been handed over to the police by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel for further investigation, the official said, adding, nothing "incriminating" was recovered from him. The incident comes a day after a man was nabbed trying scaling the wall of the high-security building. "The 20-year-old man was intercepted and apprehended by CISF personnel around 9:30 am on Saturday from the Raisina Road between the Rail Bhawan and the Parliament House. "Initial probe found the man came to Delhi from Bengaluru and was supposed to travel to Dubai. Nothing incriminating has been recovered from him and he has been questioned," a senior security officer said. A copy of his Aadhaar and passport was found in his phone. Kishtwar cloudburst: Multi-agency search intensifies to trace 33 missing

The multi-agency search operation to trace 33 missing persons in cloudburst-hit Kishtwar district in Jammu and Kashmir entered the eighth day on Thursday, officials said. The death toll in the natural calamity that struck the last motorable village en route to the Machail Mata temple on August 14 during the yatra stands at 65, including three CISF personnel and one Special Police Officer (SPO) of J-K Police. Over 100 people were injured. "The search operation by multiple agencies has been intensified to trace 33 missing persons. Two SpiceJet flyers try to storm cockpit, offloaded at Delhi airport

Two unruly passengers were offloaded from a SpiceJet flight at the Delhi airport on Monday after they attempted to forcefully enter the cockpit when the aircraft was taxiing. SpiceJet said the aircraft, which was to fly to Mumbai, returned to the bay and the two passengers were offloaded and later handed over to the CISF. "On July 14, 2025, two unruly passengers were offloaded from SpiceJet flight SG 9282 operating from Delhi to Mumbai. "The two attempted to forcefully approach the cockpit and caused a disruption while the aircraft was taxiing," the airline said in a statement. According to SpiceJet, despite repeated requests by the cabin crew, fellow passengers, and the captain, the two passengers refused to return to their seats. Govt directs CISF to check cargo, in-line baggage amid tighter security

The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) on Saturday said it has extended an additional security cover to temporarily supervise cargo operations and in-line hold baggage screening system at 69 civil airports of the country under its counter-terrorist cover. A spokesperson for the paramilitary force said the move has been initiated following a directive issued by the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) on May 9 "temporarily" extending CISF's cover to these processes in "direct response" to the terrorist attack in Pahalgam and the subsequent security scenario in the country. CISF sets up 'quality control' unit to enhance civil aviation security

CISF has set up a quality control unit to "enhance" the "operational efficiency" of its aviation security wing that provides a counter-terrorist cover to 68 civil airports of the country. SpiceJet employee slaps CISF man in argument at Jaipur airport, arrested

A SpiceJet staff member was arrested Thursday after she allegedly slapped a Central Industrial Security Force jawan during an argument over security screening, police and CISF officials said. Delhi airport operator sets up technical panel to probe roof collapse

Delhi airport operator DIAL on Friday said it has set up a technical committee to probe the roof collapse at the airport's Terminal 1 and the primary cause of the incident seems to be continued heavy rainfall. In the incident, which happened at around 5 am on Friday, one person died and a few others sustained injuries. DIAL said that due to heavy rains and winds through the night in Delhi, a canopy at the old departure forecourt of Terminal 1 (T1) partially collapsed.
