Denmark's Queen Margrethe II has tested positive for the coronavirus after attending the funeral of Britain's Queen Elizabeth II, the royal palace said Wednesday. In a statement, the royal household said that Margrethe, 82, who has been on the throne for 50 years, cancelled her official duties after the Tuesday night test. The palace said her oldest son, heir to the throne Crown Prince Frederik, and his wife, Crown Princess Mary, would take the queen's place hosting a dinner with Danish government officials and members of parliament. The research, published recently in the journal Circulation, found that in the first week following a COVID-19 diagnosis, people were 21 times more likely to have a heart attack or a stroke, conditions mainly caused by blood clots in arteries. After 4 weeks, the likelihood dropped to 3.9 times, according to the study. Delhi on Tuesday recorded 81 fresh Covid cases with a positivity rate of 0.82 per cent and one more death due to the infection, according to the data shared by the city health department here. The new cases were detected from 9,865 tests conducted the previous day, the department said in its latest bulletin. The government did not issue a bulletin on Monday. Delhi on Sunday recorded 95 fresh COVID-19 cases with a positivity rate of 0.97 per cent and one fatality due to the infection. With the new cases, Delhi's COVID-19 tally climbed to 20,02,572, while the death toll increased to 26,500, it said. Cases of COVID-19 in Delhi have registered a drop in the last several days. On Saturday, the city logged 89 COVID-19 cases with a positivity rate of 0.88 per cent and one death. Delhi saw 123 Covid new cases with a positivity rate of 1.16 per cent and zero fatality on Friday. The capital reported 116 Covid cases with a positivity rate of 0.97 per cent and three fatalities on Thursday.
Maharashtra on Tuesday recorded 550 fresh coronavirus cases and two fatalities, taking the tally to 81,16,384 and the toll to 1,48,314, the state health department said. A day before, the state had reported 292 infections and two deaths due to the infection. The two COVID-19 fatalities were reported from Mumbai and Thane city. Mumbai logged 120 new cases. Maharashtra's case fatality rate stands at 1.82 per cent. The state is now left with 4,216 active cases, as per the health department. A total of 772 patients recovered from coronavirus infection in the last 24 hours, which raised the cumulative count of recoveries to 79,63,854 at the recovery rate of 98.12 per cent. With 19,755 tests conducted in the last 24 hours, the tally of samples examined so far in Maharashtra has gone up to 8,45,69,171. The union territory of Puducherry logged 63 new coronavirus cases during the last 24 hours pushing the overall tally to 1,74,002. The Puducherry region alone accounted for 33 of the 63 infections while Karaikal added 26 and Mahe and Yanam had two each, Director of Health G Sriramulu said in a release on Tuesday. The new cases were detected after the examination of 1,217 samples, he added. The union territory had reported 48 fresh infections on Monday. A 85-year-old woman succumbed to the infection in JIPMER, taking the death toll to 1,971. The number of active cases stood at 502 which included 15 patients undergoing treatment in hospitals while the remaining 487 were in home quarantine. As many as 88 persons recovered during the last 24 hours ending 10 AM Tuesday and the overall recoveries rose to 1,71,529. The Department of Health has so far examined 23,97,641 samples and found 20,32,074 out of them to be negative, Sriramulu said. The test positivity rate was 5.18 per cent whi
