Crediting the "special IPL innings" for changing his life, Uttar Pradesh batter Rinku Singh said he was left emotional when he received his maiden India call up for the Asian Games. The Hundred: India's Jemimah Rodrigues to play for Northern Superchargers

India batter Jemimah Rodriogues has signed a last-minute deal to play for Northern Superchargers in the upcoming Hundred tournament in England, replacing Australia's Heather Graham. The 22-year-old Rodrigues was among the leading run-scorer in the inaugural season of the Hundred but missed a major chunk of the competition last year due to a wrist injury. According to espncricinfo.com, the Northern Superchargers had opted against retaining the Indian batter ahead of the draft in March this year, but have been able to bring her back in their side as an injury replacement. The development comes close to the news that Australia have withdrawn two of the country's biggest players, Alyssa Healy and Ellyse Perry from the tournament, which is starting on August 1 and runs until the August 27. Both Healy and Perry have been called back after they suffered injuries during Australia's second ODI against Ireland. Rodrigues thus became the fourth Indian player to feature in the Hundred this ye

I get charged up in face of challenges: Kohli on hitting 29th Test ton

Star Indian batter Virat Kohli feels "charged up" when faced with an adverse situation and said it was extremely "satisfying" to get his 29th Test hundred during the ongoing second match against West Indies as he had to "do the hard yards". The 34-year-old Kohli on Friday equalled Sir Don Bradman's record of 29 Test centuries in India's commendable first innings score of 438, hitting a polished 121 in 206 balls. The hundred ended his five-year-long drought for an international Test century outside India. He scored his last ton in 2018. "I really enjoyed myself out there. I was in the rhythm, I wanted to be in. Started in challenging times. I switch on during these times. When I have something to overcome, I get charged up," Kohli said after the end of day 2. "I had to be patient as the outfield was slow. It was very satisfying as I had to do the hard yards." India were reduced to 182 for four when Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja joined hands, stitching a 159-run partnership to rescue th

IND W vs BAN W: Mandhana says not having a coach could be advantageous

Unperturbed by the absence of a head coach for over six months, Indian women's team vice-captain Smriti Mandhana preferred to look at the silver lining, saying tips shared by a different set of coaching staff will be advantageous. Since the sacking of Ramesh Powar in December last year, the women's cricket team has been without a head coach. The side was even forced to play the T20 World Cup in February without the head of the coaching staff. "The BCCI has been hunting for a long-term coach and we will have one soon," Mandhana said at the pre-match press conference ahead of India's third ODI against Bangladesh. "It's not a very big thing in terms of players. We want to play the best brand of cricket we can. All the coaching staff that has come in has been really helpful. "Sometimes it's an advantage, new coaching staff comes with new tips and new positives. If I take it very positively then its a good thing," the opener added. In April, the BCCI decided to do away with the practic

Emerging Asia Cup: India A bank on all-round strength against Bangladesh A

After a dominant show in the league phase, India A will be favourites to seal a spot in the final of the Emerging Asia Cup when they face Bangladesh A in the semifinal here on Friday. The most refreshing aspect about India's undefeated run so far in the tournament is that they have found multiple heroes in times of need. India will be hoping for an encore of that all-round show against a tricky and competitive opponent in Bangladesh. Pacer Harshit Rana (4/41) and captain Yash Dhull (108) were India's star performers against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in their tournament opener that they won by eight wickets. However, that role was taken over by left-arm spinner Nishant Sindhu (4/14) and openers B Sai Sudarshan (58) and Abhishek Sharma (87) against Nepal. India crushed Nepal by nine wickets. All-rounder Rajvardhan Hangarkekar, who is the top wicket-taker in the tournament with eight wickets, too had chipped in with three wickets in that match. In a keenly anticipated match, In
