Delhi CM clears signing of MoU on first 3 metro corridors under Phase-4

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has approved signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the Delhi government, the Centre and the DMRC on the first three corridors being built under Phase-IV of the metro, an official statement issued on Monday said. At present, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) is carrying out construction work on a 65.2-km stretch of three priority corridors spanning 45 stations as part of this project. These three corridors are Janakpuri West-RK Ashram Marg (28.92 km), Majlis Park-Maujpur (12.55 km), both of which are extensions of the Delhi Metro's Magenta Line and Pink Line, and Aerocity-Tughlakabad (23.62 km) which is being built as Golden Line to connect the Violet Line and the Airport Line from their respective ends. Water supply to area around Burari Metro Station to be affected on Fri: DJB

Water supply will be affected in the Burari Metro Station area on February 16 due to water pipeline interconnection work by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, Delhi Jal Board officials said on Wednesday. There will be no supply of water for 18 hours from 9 am on February 16 to 3 am on February 17, they said. "Due to interconnection of 700 mm dia water pipeline by DMRC Ltd. at Burari Metro Station, the competent authority has approved the shut down for 18 hours on February 16 from 9 am to 3 am on February 17. Residents are advised to store sufficient quantity of water in advance as per requirement. Water tanker will be available on request," a DJB notice said. Most escalators in Connaught Place found non-functional: NDMC vice chairman

NDMC Vice Chairman Satish Upadhyay on Saturday said most of the escalators in Connaught Place here were found non-functional during an inspection. He has issued strict instructions to the electricity, civil, security and all the departments concerned, demanding prompt action and enhancing security measures. Upadhyay conducted an inspection of the escalators installed in various subways at Connaught Place and its surroundings in the area of the New Delhi Municipal Council, a statement said. Acknowledging public complaints, he personally assessed the situation, revealing that out of the 22 escalators in the Connaught Place area, connecting to places such as Super Bazar, Statesman House, KG Marg, and Janpath, most of them were found non-functional. He stressed the need for ensuring that visitors, residents, and market traders association members are not inconvenienced by non-functional escalators.

DMRC chief Kumar conducts night inspection after Gokulpuri station incident

DMRC chief Vikas Kumar has conducted a late-night inspection of some metro stations on its Pink Line, a day after a portion of a wall collapsed at Gokulpuri station, officials said on Saturday. A 53-year-old man died and four people were injured in the Thursday morning incident. "The DMRC MD conducted an inspection of some of the metro stations on its Pink Line on Friday night. He spent about 2.5 hours during the inspection and also interacted with staff," a senior official of DMRC said. Gokulpuri Metro Station falls on the Pink Line which connects Majlis Park and Shiv Vihar Metro Stations. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation on Saturday also posted a photo on X about the night inspection. DMRC announces Rs 25 lakh for family of deceased in Gokulpuri incident

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation on Thursday announced Rs 15 lakh in compensation for the family of 53-year-old man who died after a portion of the Gokulpuri Metro Station on the Pink Line in northeast Delhi collapsed, official statement said. The DMRC announced Rs 2.5 lakh for the grievously injured and Rs 50,000 for those who received minor injuries, it stated. The transporters also suspended two of its officials over the collapse. "Two DMRC officials, a manager and a junior engineer from the civil department, have been immediately suspended," the statement read. The DMRC will be investigating the circumstances leading to this incident to take necessary remedial measures to prevent such unfortunate occurrences in the future, it said.

DMRC interactive museum: Get experience of 'driving' metro train

Visitors at a prominent Delhi Metro station can get an experience of 'driving' a train as the DMRC has installed interactive museum exhibits to engage more with passengers and people in general. The exhibits were unveiled on Wednesday at the Shivaji Stadium metro station in the presence of Vikas Kumar, Managing Director of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation. The simulator consists of a screen and a joystick, and visitors can get an immersive experience of 'sitting in a train pilot's seat' by pulling the lever, the action being translated on the screen which carries simulated visuals. Besides, an interactive digital display through a wide screen mounted on a kiosk allows visitors to navigate through the history of the DMRC since its inception in 1995 to the first groundbreaking held on October 1, 1998, onto opening of its first corridor in December 2002. Delhi Metro unveils train exclusively wrapped to celebrate Republic Day

The Delhi Metro on Thursday unveiled a train exclusively wrapped to celebrate the 75th Republic Day, officials said. The special train was flagged off from the Mandi House Metro Station on the Violet Line by Minister of Law and Justice Arjun Ram Meghwal and Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Managing Director Vikas Kumar. In a post on X, the DMRC said, "A metro train specially wrapped to celebrate the 75th Republic Day was formally pressed into service today from Mandi House Metro station on the Violet Line in the presence of Arjun Ram Meghwal, Minister of Law and Justice, and DMRC MD Vikas Kumar."
