Delhi-NCR has witnessed over two-fold jump in sales of luxury homes priced above Rs 1.5 crore to 13,630 units in January-September this year on better demand and supply, according to Anarock. Real estate consultant Anarock's data showed that 6,210 luxury homes were sold during January-September last year. The trend was more or less similar across seven major cities tracked by Anarock. Sales of luxury residential properties jumped more than two times to 84,400 units across seven major cities during January-September this year from 39,300 units in the corresponding period of the last year. Anarock Chairman Anuj Puri said the luxury housing segment has been growing rapidly on demand surge after the COVID pandemic. The supply in this segment too has improved. An earthquake of magnitude 3.1 struck Faridabad in Haryana at 4.08 pm on Sunday, the National Centre for Seismology said. It said the epicentre for the quake was nine kilometres east of Faridabad and 30 kilometres southeast of Delhi. Delhi-NCR recorded an average Air Quality Index (AQI) of 167 from January 1 to September 30 this year, the second-best for the corresponding period in six years, the Centre's Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) said on Saturday. Better air quality during this period was recorded only during the pandemic-affected 2020, it said in a statement. In 2022, 2021, 2019 and 2018, the average AQI during this period ranged from 180 to 193. Delhi experienced its only "good" air quality day of the year, with an AQI of 45, on September 10, the final day of the G20 Summit. Despite less rainfall in September 2023 (82.7 mm) compared to September 2022 (165 mm), the average AQI for the month this year (108) remained on par with last year (104). Between January and September this year, Delhi saw 193 days with "good" to "moderate" air quality (average AQI less than 200), surpassing the previous five years (excluding 2020), during which the number of such days ranged from 146 to 174. Co-working space operator EFC (I) Ltd on Monday said it has entered into Delhi-NCR market with start of a new centre in Noida comprising 65,000 square feet area. The civic body identified and cleaned more than 11,000 garbage vulnerable points and is conducting anti-larval spraying in all wards ahead of the G20 Summit, Delhi Mayor Shelly Oberoi said on Sunday. In a press conference at the AAP headquarters, she said teams have been also set up to clean areas adjacent to posh hotels, tourist attractions and the city airport, adding that Delhi is ready to welcome guests for the summit. "The MCD (Municipal Corporation of Delhi) is working continuously to ensure that the roads, parks, markets and other public places are neat and clean. It is a matter of great pride for Delhi that India is hosting the G20 Summit and we will put our best foot forward," she said. Delhi PWD minister Atishi Saturday dismissed Lt Governor V K Saxena's allegation that AAP ministers attended just one G20 preparatory meet, and said "had he involved us in preparations, we would have done better". The minister also said the AAP dispensation asked for Rs 927 crore from the Centre for the G20 preparations but did not get a single penny. However, she insisted now is not the time for a credit war. The National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) has directed to initiate insolvency proceedings against Delhi NCR-based realty firm Imperia Structures and has appointed an interim resolution professional. Admitting a joint plea filed by 28 unit holders of its Gurugram-based project 'Imperia Mindscape', the insolvency tribunal said after examining the records, it is clear that there is a debt and a subsequent default by the realty firm for an amount of Rs 36.79 crore as it could not provide assured returns as promised. "The petition establishes that the corporate debtor is in default of a debt due and payable and that the default is for an amount which is more than the minimum amount of pecuniary threshold stipulated under section 4 (1) of the Code. The instant petition... for initiating CIRP against Imperia Structures Limited, the corporate debtor, stands admitted and CIRP of Imperia Structures Limited is initiated," said NCLT.
