Over 23,000 DU students applied for change of college: Varsity official

Over 30,500 students allotted courses across Delhi University colleges have frozen their seats, while over 23,000 candidates opted for upgradation of seats after the 2nd merit list, a senior varsity official said. Meanwhile, the university has also received 1,008 mid-entry applications. The varsity had given a window from November 5 to 7 for mid-entry for fresh applicants. The total number of students admitted to the university so far has gone beyond 61,500, of the 70,000 undergraduate seats the DU has on offer. Over 15,200 students secure admission in DU colleges in second round

More than 15,200 students secured admission in various Delhi University colleges in the second round of seat allocation, a senior varsity official said on Thursday. Of them, 9,439 are those who were allotted seats in the first round of admission and later upgraded to college and course of their preference in the second merit list. "As many as 15,236 students who were allotted seats in the second list have confirmed their seats and submitted the fees," DU Dean of Admission Haneet Gandhi told PTI. 11,649 students from DU admission's 1st round upgraded to college of choice

Over 11,600 candidates allotted seats in the Delhi University's first round of admission have been upgraded to college and course of their preference in the second merit list, a senior varsity official said on Monday. As many as 8,133 new aspirants have also been allotted seats in Delhi University colleges, DU Registrar Vikas Gupta said. A total of 33,739 aspirants had applied for the upgradation of their seats, of which more than 34 per cent have been given college and course of their preference, he said. The admission to the second round of allocation is underway. The university began the admission process for over 70,000 seats in September. The Delhi University has released the second list of seat allocation for undergraduate programmes and a total of 145 candidates on it have already accepted the college and programme allotted to them, an official said Monday. "We released the list around 1 am on Monday. Students can go to their dashboard to accept the seat they have been allotted," Delhi University Registrar Vikas Gupta told PTI over the phone. "As many as 145 students have already accepted the seat allotted to them by 4 am," he said. Candidates have until November 1 to accept the allotted seats. More than 25 per cent of the 59,100 candidates who secured admission in Delhi University's first round of seat allocations have frozen their seats while nearly 60 per cent of them have opted for an upgrade to their higher 'programme+college combination' preference, a varsity official said Thursday. Thursday was the last day for opting for an upgrade. "As many as 35,388 students have opted for an upgrade, while 15,398 have frozen their seats," the official said. A day after its first round of seat allocation concluded with the majority of them getting filled up, Delhi University on Wednesday published a list of vacant seats. In many of the courses, only one to two seats will be available for candidates in the second round of seat allocation, according to the list. The Delhi University's Faculty of Law on Friday said it has formed a committee to review allegations of discrepancies in the results of the LLB semester examination. Several students of the department have alleged that they were given zero marks or marked absent in the recently held examination. "A grievance committee of the Faculty of Law is being formed to review all the discrepancies in the results of LLB II-IV-VI Term, August-2022 Examination, and the committee will resolve all the discrepancies as soon as possible," Professor Usha Tandon, head and dean of the Faculty of Law, said. Delhi University announced on Wednesday the much-awaited first list of seat allocations for admission to undergraduate programmes. This marks the commencement of the third and last phase of the admission process. The list was initially slotted to be announced on October 18. However, it was deferred to Wednesday. DU defers first seat allocation round for UG admission to Wednesday

The Delhi University, which was scheduled to announce the first list of seat allocation in its colleges on Tuesday, has deferred the process by a day, officials said. The development comes as the Supreme Court is set to hear on Wednesday a plea by St Stephen's College, one of the colleges under DU, against a Delhi High Court order on admissions. The high court has asked the college to follow the admission policy formulated by DU, according to which 100 per cent weightage has to be given to the Common University Entrance Test (CUET)-2022 score while granting admissions to non-minority students in its undergraduate courses. St Stephen's College, however, wants to give only 85 per cent weightage to CUET and 15 per cent to interviews for admitting students across categories. According to the detailed schedule released by DU, the first seat allocation list was to be announced on October 18.
