It said not providing the adequate safety gear also violated a Supreme Court order dated February 27. A six-month-old girl was killed and her family members suffered severe injuries after their car rammed into a truck in Rajasthan's Baran district Monday, police said. The accident took place on the National Highway-27 bypass. The car crashed into the truck from behind after it suddenly slowed down. The girl died on the spot, Station House Officer (SHO), Baran, Devesh Bhardwaj, said. Police have lodged a case of negligence against the truck's driver who fled with his vehicle after the accident, he said. The injured people were identified as Ramswroop Mahajan (70) and his wife Nathibai; Gunjan Goyal and Madhurima, the police officer said. A speeding truck collided with a jeep carrying passengers on Lakhimpur-Nanpara highway here, killing four people and injuring 11, police said Monday. The accident occurred Sunday night when the vegetable traders were returning home from a local market here, Deputy Superintendent of Police Vijay Prakash said. While Fariyad, Sajid and Aas Mohammad succumbed to injuries in a local hospital, Kamal died on the way to a hospital in Lucknow, Prakash said, adding all the deceased were aged between 22 and 25. A brand new Indonesian Lion Air plane that crashed into the sea on Monday had a technical issue that required the Boeing jet to be briefly grounded for repairs, the carrier's CEO said. "It got repaired in Denpasar (in Bali) and then it was flown to Jakarta," Edward Sirait told AFP, without specifying the nature of the problem. At least eight construction workers were injured, half of them seriously, when a scaffolding of bamboo poles erected for painting work in a housing complex here crashed Monday, officials said. The incident took place late in the morning in the Balkum area of the city, they said. Santosh Kadam, chief of Thane's Regional Disaster Management Cell (RDMC), said eight workers were injured in the scaffolding collapse. Four of them, who were seriously injured, were rushed to the Thane Civil Hospital, he said. A group of workers, engaged by a contractor, was busy painting the walls of the multi-storey residential building when the scaffolding caved in at about 11 am, causing all of them to fall down, Kadam said. Eyewitnesses put the figure of the injured at 11 and added that at least a dozen workers were on the bamboo scaffolding at the time of the mishap.
