The Uttar Pradesh government Sunday released a list of 10 people from the state killed in the Amritsar train tragedy. The tragic train accident left a void in at least three families from the state. The worst affected was the family of Dinesh from Sonbarsa village in Sultanpur district. Three of its members died in the tragedy. In a statement issued here Sunday, UP Relief Commissioner Sanjay Kumar said Dinesh (34), Priti (32) and Abhishek (11) from Sonbarsa village in Sultanpur district were killed in the accident. Two brothers from Hardoi -- Girindra (45) and Pawan Kumar (40) -- also died. "Pradeep Singh Kushwaha (22) and Sarthak Kushwaha (4) from Ghazipur, Brijbhaan (20) and Ram Milan Nishad (24) from Azamgarh, and Deepak (10) from Amethi also died in the accident," Kumar said in the statement. The relief commissioner also said that people from Uttar Pradesh who are yet to locate their missing relatives can get in touch with his office and the state emergency management authority.

One person died and nine others injured as their vehicle fell into a gorge in Himachal Pradesh's Kullu district Sunday, police said. Eleven persons, including ten from Kolkatta and a local driver were in the vehicle, they said, adding one of them left unhurt. The injured have been admitted to nearby hospitals, police added. The Congress Sunday questioned the railways over its decision not to initiate a probe into the Amritsar train accident, in which 59 Dussehra revellers lost their lives Friday, even as the Railway Board chairman maintained the ministry's stand of calling a "spade a spade". A medium-intensity earthquake hit Jammu and Kashmir Sunday evening, but there were no reports of any loss of life or damage to the property, officials said. An earthquake measuring 3.3 on the Richter scale occurred at 1806 hours, a Disaster Management Department's official said. He said the epicentre of the quake in the state was at a depth of five km at latitude of 33.5 degree north and longitude of 75.2 degree east. The Odisha government said Sunday that financial assistance of up to Rs 1.02 lakh would be given to people for repairing houses damaged by Cyclone 'Titli' and the subsequent floods earlier this month. Deputy Relief Commissioner PK Mohapatra said the assistance will be given to the people for damaged houses as well as livestock as per the norms of the Odisha Relief Code. As per the state's estimates, 57,131 houses have been damaged in the twin calamities that left at least 61 people dead and 10 missing. While an aid of Rs 1,01,900 will be given for damage of a house in hilly areas, Rs 95,100 will be given for those in the plains for rebuilding activity, Mohapatra said. For partially damaged houses, the affected people will get Rs 5,200 for pucca houses, Rs 3,200 for kuchcha ones and Rs 4,100 for huts, Mohapatra told reporters. Assam Governor Prof Jagdish Mukhi Sunday condoled the death of seven passengers in a bus accident in Nalbari district on Saturday. The governor also wished speedy recovery of those injured in the accident. He asked the administration to provide best possible medical treatment to the injured persons. At least 17 people have died after an express train derailed and flipped over on a popular coastal route in Taiwan on Sunday. The Taiwan Railways Administration confirmed 17 people had been killed and said 132 people had also been injured in the accident in northeastern Yilan county. The 17 people died of cardiac arrest before they reached the hospital. The remaining injured are being treated in four different hospitals. At least 11 people went missing after a ship carrying sand sank in China's Liaoning province on Sunday, according to official Chinese media. The incident occurred at around 3 am, the state-run Xinhua reported. A 19-year-old labourer died when an under-construction building collapsed in Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir, police said Sunday. In the accident, four other labourers and the building owner were injured, who were being treated at a hospital, they added. The under-construction building collapsed late Saturday evening at Barta village, about 25 km from Udhampur town, when a group of labourers were busy at work, they said. He said Tanveer Ahmad, a labourer from Ramban district, got trapped under the debris, while four of his colleagues - Mushtaq Ahmad, his son Shafiq, Yasin (all residents of Ramban) and Lal Chand of Doda - were injured along with the owner of the building Yash Pal of Barta. Rescue works were taken up immediately, and the body of the deceased was recovered, which was later handed over to his kin after completion of legal and medical formalities, an official said.
