The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday approved the six-laning of a 61-km stretch of the National Highway (NH)-275 between Mysuru and Nidagatta in the Bengaluru district in Karnataka.
At least three persons were killed and 11 injured in a powerful blast in a food processing factory in Punjab's Patiala district, police said on Tuesday.
Two men were killed and one injured when their motorcycle was hit by an unknown vehicle on Haidargarh-Ausaneshwar road here, police said today. The accident took place late last night, when Suresh Chandra (40), Hansraj (35) and Jai Jairam (30) were returning after attending a marriage programme, they said. Suresh and Hansraj died on the spot, while Jairam sustained serious injuries and was hospitalised at the district hospital, Station Officer Kothi police station R P Rawat said. Efforts are on to identify the vehicle which hit the motorcycle, the officer added.
The Supreme Court of India vide its order dated 24.09.2014 cancelled 204 coal mines/blocks allocated to the various Government and Private Companies since 1993 under the provisions of Coal Mines (Nationalisation) Act, 1973. To bring transparency and accountability, the Coal Mines (Special Provisions) Bill 2015 was passed by the Parliament which was notified as an Act on 30.03.2015. Enabling provisions have been made in the Coal Mines (Special Provisions) Act, 2015 for allocation of coal mines by way of auction and allotment for the sale of coal.

A medium intensity earthquake measuring 3.3 on the Richter Scale today hit Jammu and Kashmir, an official of the MeT department said. The epicentre of the quake was in Jammu and Kashmir, he said. "Earthquake of magnitude 3.3 occurred at 12:41 pm today with epicentre in Jammu and Kashmir at a depth of five km," he said. No damage to property or casualty was reported, police said.
The government today approved a Rs 2,920-crore project for widening a section of national highway-275, connecting Bengaluru and Mysuru, in Karnataka. Iranian authorities on Tuesday found the wreckage of a plane that crashed in the mountainous central province of Isfahan, killing all 65 people on board.
Two persons were killed and another injured when an SUV collided with a truck and a car in Udaipur district today, police said. The incident occurred in Dabok police station area when the SUV, on its way to nearby place, collided with the truck and the car. Ramesh Salvi, 22, and Kanakmal Jain, 50, both travelling in the SUV, died in the accident, while one person was injured, police said. The incident is being probed.

A minor fire broke out at an annexe building of Southern Railway divisional office here, but nobody was injured nor was there any major loss of property, officials said. The fire with heavy smoke broke out on the fourth floor in NGO Annexe building of the Chennai Divisional Office. Seven people were killed on Monday after a bus turned turtle in Patna's Kandap village.The bus was carrying passengers who were going to attend a wedding. Reportedly, the bus was in high speed due to which the driver lost the control and tuned turtle.More than 25 passengers were also injured in the accident.
