Increase in enrolment rate in elementary education in Arunachal: CM Khandu

Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Wednesday said there has been an increase in the enrolment rate in elementary education and a reduction in the dropout rate at the secondary level in the state. He said the state has achieved a notable reduction in the dropout rate at the secondary level to 11.7 per cent. Khandu wrote on X, "Our concerted efforts have yielded remarkable outcomes. The Adjusted Net Enrolment Rate in elementary education has reached an impressive 100 pc. Similarly, the average annual school dropout rate at the secondary level has reduced significantly." The chief minister credited Team Arunachal for driving impactful changes in the education sector. India to fund projects worth Rs 237.1 cr in Sri Lanka's eastern province

India is to provide Rs 2,371 million to Sri Lanka for 33 development projects in education, health and agriculture sectors in the eastern province, it was announced on Tuesday. The cabinet has approved a proposal to sign an MoU to boost socio-economic development and bilateral ties between the two countries, cabinet spokesman and the Health Minister Nalinda Jayathissa told reporters here. India is to provide Rs 315 million for education, Rs 780 million for health and Rs 620 million for agriculture under the arrangement. These projects, among the slew of others, are aimed at enhancing infrastructure, growth and empowering local communities.

DU to introduce one-year PG course from 2026, proposal to be discussed soon

In line with the National Education Policy, Delhi University will introduce a one-year postgraduate programme starting in 2026. The draft proposal will be discussed at the Academic Council meeting scheduled for December 27, according to the agenda to be tabled for the meeting. Several changes have been incorporated into the plan, but some teachers have criticised the move, alleging it is being rushed for discussion. DU has already implemented a four-year undergraduate programme, with the third semester currently underway. Under this framework, students exiting after the first year receive a certificate, those leaving after the second year are awarded a diploma, and those completing three years obtain a degree. Students who complete the fourth year earn a degree with honours. After three years, students can opt for a two-year PG course, while those completing four years can enrol in the one-year PG programme.
