After question papers of class 10 state board examination were "leaked" on social media, the authorities holding the class 12 examination Saturday warned students that their registration number could be cancelled if they carry mobile phones in examination halls. The West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (WBCHSE) said examinees would also be checked with mobile detectors at the entrance of the hall and inside it. The WBCHSE conducts the Higher Secondary (class 12) examination which will begin from February 26 and continue till March 13 across the state. "We will take strong action if any mobile phone is found with students. A section of agitating Jadavpur University students have confined Pro-Vice-Chancellor Pradip Kumar Ghosh in his office for over 24 hours, university sources said Saturday. The Delhi High Court has sought response of the Centre and the Medical Council of India (MCI) on a plea claiming that there is a delay in implementing the revised graduate medical education regulation. A bench of Chief Justice Rajendra Menon and Justice V K Rao issued notice to authorities and directed them to file their responses within four weeks and list the matter for further hearing on May 3. Only 88 per cent schools in the national capital have playgrounds and computer facilities, according to the economic survey of Delhi for the year 2018-19. But the survey, tabled in Delhi Assembly Saturday, said all schools in Delhi have toilets for boys and girls, electricity connection and drinking water facilities, an improvement from preceding years. According to the survey, the Net Enrolment Ratio in primary education declined from 93.26 per cent in 2015-16 to 92.55 per cent in 2016-17. "The education expenditure to the Gross State Domestic Product of Delhi is the highest at 1.70 per cent in 2018-19. In Delhi, the per student per annum expenditure incurred by the government on education has increased to Rs 66,038 in 2018-19 from Rs 54,910 in 2016-17," the survey said. "We will take strong action if any mobile phone is found with students in the classroom. A court here Friday sentenced a tuition teacher to three years' imprisonment for sexually assaulting a ten-year-old student. Pradeep Singh (30) was found guilty under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The victim, a Class 5 student, attended Singh's tuitions. In January 2015, the girl told her mother that Singh made her sit close to him and touched her inappropriately. He threatened to beat her if she told anybody about this, the girl said. Police arrested Singh after the girl's mother lodged a complaint.
