The Delhi government has asked all schools in the national capital to take measures for prevention of defacement of public property and warn students against it. Schools have been asked to warn students against defacing public property such as historical monuments, school buildings and flyovers. A recruitment examination organised by the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) was held on Saturday amid protests by a section of the aspirants who were dispersed by the police using water canon here, officials said. The incident occurred near a school where the mains examination of the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission Combined Examination (APPSCCE) was going on. A section of the candidates protested outside the school demanding postponement of the mains examination on the ground of court cases related to the examination. APPSC secretary Taru Talo said 900 out of total 1336 candidates appeared in the first day of the mains exam. The Daribhit High School in North Dinajpur district, which has remained shut since the death of two students in a firing in September, reopened on Saturday after 120 days, officials said. Family members of the two victims were on dharna in front of the school building demanding CBI probe into the incident and release of the eight arrested villagers. A meeting convened by the Islampur SDO Manish Mishra between the local administration and political parties was held on Friday on reopening of the school, officials said. As per decisions taken at the meeting, Mishra and officials of the school came to Daribhit on Saturday and mothers of the two deceased placed their demands once again. Garimella is the R Eugene and Susie Goodson Distinguished Professor in the School of Mechanical Engineering at Purdue University, Indiana. He is also the director of the Cooling Technologies Research Centre, an Industry/ University Cooperative Research Centre of the National Science Foundation (NSF). The Cabinet on Thursday approved setting up of a Central Tribal University in Andhra Pradesh. The 'Central Tribal University of Andhra Pradesh' will be set up in Relli village of Vizianagaram district as provided under the 13th schedule to the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014, an official statement said. The cabinet has also approved Rs 420 crore for the first phase expenditure towards establishment of the university, it stated.
The Kerala government has initiated a scheme to provide free education and vocational training to the children of those fishermen who died or went missing in the 2017 Ockhi cyclonic storm. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said 194 students have been identified as beneficiaries. "A total of 194 students, which includes children at all levels, from lower primary to professional colleges, have been identified as beneficiaries. The government will provide vocational training to 124 students who have completed graduation," Vijayan said in his official Twitter handle Thursday. He also said Rs 13.92 crore would be allocated from the Chief Minister's Disaster Relief Fund. The scheme envisages a package of Rs 10,000 per year for children in classes from LKG to Class V, Rs 25,000 for children in classes 6 to 10, Rs 30,000 for higher secondary students and up to Rs 1,00,000 for students doing graduation.
