'JSW group not withdrawing Rs 40,000 crore EV project from Odisha'

The JSW group is not "withdrawing" its proposed Rs 40,000 crore electric vehicle (EV) and battery project from Odisha, a senior company official said on Tuesday. The company's announcement comes after a section of media reported that the JSW group plans to shift its EV and battery project from the eastern state to Maharashtra. Asked about media reports, Ranjan Nayak, executive vice president of corporate strategy, office of chairman and managing director said, "We are not withdrawing the EV and battery project from Odisha". The JSW group had on February 10, 2024, signed a memorandum of understanding with the Odisha government for establishment of an integrated electric vehicle and EV battery manufacturing project at an investment of Rs 40,000 crore in the state. Delhi to organise 'e-vehicle parade' in October to boost usage, sales

Delhi's environment department will organise an 'e-vehicle parade' at Rajghat in early October, aimed at encouraging the purchase and use of electric vehicles (EVs) in the city. A senior official from the environment department said that a tender has been issued for the event, which is expected to cost around Rs 5.76 lakh. Electric two-wheeler startup Warivo Motor India is looking to nearly double its topline to around Rs 120 crore this fiscal on the back of its entry into high-speed electric-scooter segment, according to top company officials. The company, which has been present in low-speed (top speed of up to 25 kmph) so far, on Friday launched its high-speed scooter CRX with price starting at Rs 79,999 (ex-showroom). "Earlier, we were in the low-speed electric scooters segment. Now with the CRX, we are getting into the high-speed segment which will help us get more volumes." Electric two-wheeler buyers can avail a maximum subsidy of up to Rs 10,000 in the first year of the PM E-DRIVE Scheme to be rolled out soon, Union Heavy Industries Minister HD Kumaraswamy said on Thursday. Addressing a media briefing, Kumaraswamy said the subsidy under the PM E-DRIVE Scheme for electric two-wheelers has been fixed based on battery power at Rs 5,000 per kilowatt hour but the overall incentive will not exceed Rs 10,000 in the first year. In the second year, it will be halved by Rs 2,500 per kilowatt hour, and the overall benefit will not exceed Rs 5,000. Addressing the media, Kumaraswamy said e-rickshaw buyers can avail of subsidy benefits of Rs 25,000 in the first year and Rs 12,500 in the second year of the PM E-DRIVE scheme. "The per kilowatt subsidy for electric two-wheelers is Rs 5,000 for the first year, and in the second year Rs 2,500, for two years, this benefit will be continued," the minister said. The Union Cabinet on Wednesday approved the PM E-Drive Scheme with an outlay of Rs 10,900 crore for two years to boost adoption of electric vehicles in India, replacing the flagship FAME programme that ran for nine years till March. The decision on PM Electric Drive Revolution In Innovative Vehicle Enhancement (PM E-DRIVE) Scheme was taken at the meeting of the Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw told reporters here. The scheme will support 24.79 lakh electric two-wheelers, 3.16 lakh e-three wheelers, and 14,028 e-buses. The PM E-DRIVE will also support 88,500 charging sites, Vaishnaw said.
