EKA Mobility enters into strategic pact with IKEA for EV vans supply

Commercial electric vehicle maker EKA Mobility on Tuesday said it has formed a strategic partnership with Swedish furniture retailer IKEA for supply of electric delivery vans in India. Under the partnership, Eka has already delivered 10 such vehicles to IKEA, with plans to expand the fleet across multiple regions in the country, EKA Mobility said. The collaboration is a part of IKEA's plan to electrify its last-mile delivery fleet in the country, it said. The transition to electric delivery vans is expected to significantly reduce IKEA's carbon footprint, contributing to a more sustainable and environmentally friendly logistics operation, EKA mobility said. EV maker Euler Motors unveils Rs 100 cr mfg, R&D facility in Haryana

Electric commercial vehicle manufacturer Euler Motors on Tuesday unveiled its manufacturing and R&D facility at Palwal in Haryana, which has been set up with an investment of Rs 100 crore to cater to the rising demand. Spanning 5 lakh square feet, the plant has the capacity to produce 36,000 vehicles per annum and will serve as Euler Motors' national manufacturing hub, catering to the rising demand for its three-wheeler, the company said. Euler Motors said it plans to expand footprint to 40 cities by FY25 from 26 cities now. "Our new factory represents a significant leap in manufacturing commercial 3-wheeler EVs. EV sales rose 55.2% to 179,000 units in July led by two-wheelers : FADA

Electric vehicle sales registered a 55.2 per cent on-year growth at 1,79,038 units in July driven by a massive 96 per cent jump in e-two-wheeler sales, automobile dealers' body FADA said on Tuesday. The total electric vehicles sales for July 2023 were at 1,16,221 units, according to the monthly sales data from Federation of Automobile Dealers' Association (FADA). The electric two-wheelers sales during the previous month stood at 1,07,016 units, up 95.94 per cent, from 54,616 units sold in July last year, while the electric three-wheeler sales grew 18.18 per cent at 63,667 units, from 58,873 units year earlier, as per FADA. The commercial vehicle sales during the reporting month was also on an upward trajectory, growing two-fold on a year-on-year basis to 816 units, from 364 commercial vehicles sold in July 2023, it stated. River Mobility plans to scale up ops; aims to open 100 stores by March

Bengaluru-headquartered electric vehicle startup River Mobility Pvt Ltd backed by marquee investors Yamaha Motor Corp, Mitsui & Company Ltd, aims to open 100 showrooms by March 2026, a top official said. The company under its expansion drive inaugurated its first store in Chennai and plans to open 15 more stores by November and 50 stores by March 2025 Chief Executive Officer, Co-Founder Aravind Mani said here. "We are very excited about the Chennai store. We have a lot of people from Tamil Nadu working in our facility (located outside Bengaluru). Chennai is a big EV market. JSW MG Motor India on Thursday said it has named its first CUV electric vehicle as MG Windsor. In November, China's largest automaker SAIC Motor inked a joint venture agreement with JSW Group to accelerate the transformation and growth of MG Motor in India. MG Motor is a British brand that is owned by Shanghai-headquartered SAIC Motor. "We are excited to reveal the name of our upcoming CUV (Crossover Utility Vehicle) as MG Windsor. Auto industry needs 200K skilled people by 2030 to meet 30% EV target

Indian automotive industry will need up to 2 lakh skilled people by 2030 to meet the government's vision of 30 per cent electric vehicle adoption, the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers said on Tuesday. A total talent investment of Rs 13,552 crore is expected for hiring and training the workforce. "As we look ahead, one of the major constraints the auto industry will face is the dearth of skilled electric vehicle capable manpower," Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) President Vinod Aggarwal said while addressing a workshop on empowering EV-ready workforce in the Indian auto industry.
