Simple Energy begins delivery of e-scooter Simple ONE in Bengaluru

Electric vehicle maker Simple Energy has started delivering its first e-scooter Simple ONE to its customers in Bengaluru on Tuesday, almost 22 months after its unveiling. The company unveiled its maiden offering on August 15, 2021, but launched it officially on May 23 this year at Rs 1.45 lakh (ex-showroom), around Rs 35,000 higher than the price it had announced at the time of pre-bookings. Announcing the commencement of deliveries in a statement on Tuesday, the company said it plans to facilitate deliveries in a phased manner starting from Bengaluru. "We have commenced the deliveries of the Simple ONE, starting with customers in Bengaluru. We have created a holistic product that is both sustainable and an efficient transportation option for our customers," Suhas Rajkumar, Founder and CEO of Simple Energy, said. EV startup River raises $15 mn in funding round led by Dubai's Al Futtaim

Bengaluru-headquartered EV startup River on Tuesday said it has raised USD 15-million capital in a funding round led by Dubai-based Al Futtaim Group. Besides, other investors including Lowercarbon Capital, Toyota Ventures, Maniv Mobility, and Trucks VC also participated in the investment round, River said in a release. The fresh capital infusion will help the company boost its manufacturing capabilities and also in the upcoming market launch of its maiden product -- Indie. "River raised a USD 15 million investment round led by Dubai's multinational powerhouse, Al Futtaim Group," River said in the statement. The diversified group has five operating divisions -- automotive, retail, real estate, healthcare, and financial services -- spread across over 20 countries, as per the statement. EV firms need 13 mn sq ft real estate space by 2030 to meet output target

Electric vehicle manufacturers will need around 13 million square feet of real estate space by 2030 to make targeted 23 million units of two-wheelers and 4 million units of four-wheelers, according to CBRE. Real estate consultant CBRE South Asia released a report, 'Electric Vehicles in India - New Wheels on the Roads', on Thursday that focuses on the trends, growth, and influence of electric vehicles (EVs) on the real estate sector in India. "Real estate requirements of manufacturing facilities of 4-wheeler and 2-wheeler (4W and 2W) electric vehicles is estimated to be around 13 million square feet by 2030 as a result of the government's EV adoption targets," it said. Moreover, EV battery manufacturing facilities would require 2,400 acre of land to accommodate the production of 200 GWh of batteries by 2030. Jaguar recalls I-Pace electric vehicles due to fire risk in batteries by LG

Jaguar is recalling more than 6,000 I-Pace electric SUVs in the US due to the risk of the high-voltage battery overheating and catching fire. The recall is the latest in a series of electric vehicle battery recalls because of the potential for fires. Documents posted on Wednesday by the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration say the recall covers all of the SUVs from the 2019 through 2024 model years. The documents say the vehicle batteries were made by LG Energy Solution, which is under investigation by the NHTSA after five automakers issued recalls due to possible defects that could cause fires or stalling. The NHTSA opened the probe in April of 2022 covering more than 138,000 vehicles with the South Korean company's lithium-ion batteries. Battery startup Log9 Materials signs MoU with EV maker Quantum Energy

Battery-tech startup Log9 Materials on Tuesday announced signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), with Hyderabad-headquartered electric vehicle maker Quantum Energy for a long-term strategic partnership in the EV space. As a part of this collaboration, the two companies also jointly unveiled a two-wheeler commercial electric vehicle (CEV)-- 'Bzinesslite-- powered by Log9's RapidX 2000 batteries, enabling it to go zero to zip within 12 minutes, Log9 Materials said in a release. Going forward, both Log9 and Quantum Energy will be working hand-in-hand to deploy 10,000 InstaCharged two-wheelers for a wide variety of use-cases, including e-commerce, food delivery, courier services, among others, in the domestic last-mile logistics sector, pan-India by March 2024, it said. Wardwizard inks pact with Dogra Regiment to offer upskilling opportunities

Wardwizard Innovations & Mobility has inked an initial pact with the Dogra Regiment of the Indian Army to provide 'Agniveers' and other retired army officers specialised skill development and upskilling opportunities in the EV space.
