The suit surrounds "The Last Days of Michael Jackson," a TV special that aired on March 24, reported Variety. The estate alleges that the producers used songs including "Beat It," "Billie Jean," and "The Girl Is Mine," along with music videos such as "Thriller," and clips from "This Is It," the concert documentary. Hollywood action star Sylvester Stallone is teaming up with MGM to develop a biopic on legendary boxing champion Jack Johnson, who was recently posthumously pardoned by President Donald Trump. Johnson was a dominant boxer and the first African-American heavyweight champion. The film will launch Stallone's Balboa Productions, created to develop film and television projects, reported Variety. Stallone was instrumental in obtaining a presidential pardon for Johnson, who was convicted of violating the Mann Act in 1910 for transporting a woman across state lines for "immoral purposes." MGM Motion Picture Group president Jonathan Glickman and MGM executive vice president of production Adam Rosenberg are overseeing the film, but there is no writer or director attached yet. Stallone has previously partnered with MGM on the "Rocky" movies and the "Creed" spin-off.

"Westworld" star James Marsden has joined the cast of Paramount's live-action/animation hybrid movie "Sonic the Hedgehog". The film is an adaptation of the classic video game launched by Sega in 1991. The game features a hedgehog named Sonic on a quest to defeat Doctor Robotnik, a scientist who has imprisoned animals in robots and stolen magical Chaos Emeralds. The American Film Institute (AFI) has selected Julia Roberts to present the AFI Life Achievement Award to her longtime friend and colleague George Clooney. The 57-year-old actor will receive the honour at the 46th AFI Life Achievement Award Gala Tribute on June 7 at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, California, reported Entertainment Tonight. Apple has given a straight-to-series order to a half-hour show about acclaimed 19th century poet Emily Dickinson, with actor Hailee Steinfeld set to play the lead. According to Variety, the series is a comedic take on Dickinson's world, exploring the constraints of society, gender, and family from the perspective of a budding writer who does not fit in to her own time due to her imaginative point of view. David Gordon Green will direct and executive produce the series, with Alena Smith attached as writer. "Dickinson" will mark Steinfeld's first regular role on a television series.
Rapper-actor-producer Snoop Dogg has smashed the world record of largest ever glass of gin and juice. In a nod to his 1994 hit "Gin and Juice," the 46-year-old musician concocted the largest glass of the tune's signature beverage at the BottleRock Napa Valley music festival, reported Entertainment Weekly. During his set at the festival, Snoop set the Guinness World Record for the biggest-ever version of the cocktail, with the final five-foot-tall product containing 180 bottles of Hendricks gin, plus juice donated by Whole Foods. Rapper Warren G and Top Chef winner Michael Voltaggio helped Snoop in making the world record. A representative from the Guinness organisation presented Snoop with his record certificate. Actor Jeff Goldblum is set to release his debut jazz album at the age of 65. The actor, who started playing jazz at the age of 15, has signed to iconic label Decca Records, reported Variety. He was signed by Decca after the label's executives spotted him accompanying singer Gregory Porter on the piano during a performance on "The Graham Norton Show" last October while promoting "Thor: Ragnarok." "I'm so happy to be in cahoots with the wonderful people at Decca, one of the coolest and most prestigious labels of all time," Goldblum said. The actor known for his iconic roles in films including "The Fly, "Jurassic Park" and "Independence Day," has played piano since childhood. He regularly plays with his jazz band, The Mildred Snitzer Orchestra, around LA and at the Cafe Carlyle in New York.
