Facebook AI turns meaningless whistling into melodious tune
Facebook has developed an AI that can turn simple whistling into musical masterpieces with the help of neural network training.The AI can not only turn whistling, but theoretically can convert music in one style or genre into any other on its own.The system uses unsupervised training to teach a neural network on creating similar noises on its own instead of repeating notes. It prevents the AI from simply memorising the audio signal by purposefully distorting the input, Engadget reported.It will be able to redo a Metallica riff as a classical piece, Mozart symphony into harpsichord-heavy performance, whistling into orchestral Indiana Jones, and so on.The possible use case is simple, allowing musicians to experiment with genre-defying covers and remixes. While it is not clear where Facebook will use this technology, but it won't be far-fetched to see it turn into a music app allowing people to turn musicians without conventional instruments.

Idris Elba to star in and direct Netflix's 'Hunchback of Notre Dame'
Idris Elba is all set to feature in and direct the modern retelling of Victor Hugo's "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" for Netflix. Sources tell Variety, the 45-year-old star will also produce and compose music for the currently untitled film. Based on the classic 19th century gothic romance novel, the plot revolves around Quasimodo, a hunchback, who falls in love with the gypsy Esmeralda. Elba will play Quasimodo. This will be the "Luther" actor's second directorial venture, after "Yardie" which releases this year. "The Current War scribe Michael Mitnick will write the modern-day version, with Fred Berger and Brian Kavanaugh-Jones co-producing for Automatik, along with Green Door's Ana Garanito. "The Hunchback..." has been adapted a number of times, with Disney's '90s animated classic featuring voices of Demi Moore and Kevin Kline being the most famous example. The film's score was nominated for an Academy Award and a Golden Globe.

The release date of "The Shining" sequel, "Doctor Sleep" has been set as January 24, 2020, Warner Bros announced. The film has been developed from Stephen King's 2013 horror novel of the same, a sequel to the iconic 1977 story "The Shining", according to The Hollywood Reporter. Mike Flanagan is directing the movie, which follows an adult Danny Torrance, who is battling alcoholism and dealing with the trauma of what happened to him as a child in the haunted Overlook Hotel in Colorado. The 1980 original movie, also presented by Warner Bros, starred Jack Nicholson, Shelley Duvall, Danny Lloyd and Scatman Crothers. Nicholson starred as Jack Torrance, a writer who agrees to become the caretaker of the Overlook Hotel in Colorado during its off season. Duvall played his wife Wendy and Lloyd played his son Danny. Sudhir Mishra to direct Indian version of 'Hostages' as webseries
The Indian adaptation of popular Israeli crime thriller "Hostages", to be telecast as a webseries, will be directed by Sudhir Mishra. Ronit Roy and Tisca Chopra are set to star. Applause Entertainment, the content studio from the Aditya Birla Group, has acquired the rights forthe Indian remake from Armoza Formats. The show will be produced by Banijay Asia, according to a press release. "'Hostages' is an enthralling and captivating concept, which will hook viewers,"Sameer Nair, CEO, Applause Entertainment, said in a statement. Apart from Roy and Chopra, the Indian adaptation will also have actors like Parvin Dabas and Dalip Tahil in key roles. US President Donald Trump today said the fate of a landmark summit with North Korea's Kim Jong Un will be decided "next week," as aides traveled to Singapore on a preparatory mission.
