Rathore to inaugurate ASEAN India Film Festival on May 25
Union minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore will inaugurate the 'ASEAN India Film Festival' on May 25 here, an official release said today. According to the release by the ministry of information and broadcasting, around 32 films from 11 countries would be screened during the five-day festival. "The Film Festival will be a platform for people of the film industry of member countries to explore areas of cooperation in the domain of cinema and cultural cooperation," it said. The festival celebrates the excellence of cinema by showcasing films from the ASEAN countries.
California's West Hollywood declares 'Stormy Daniels Day'

US media and cable giant Comcast said today it preparing an all-cash offer for the key television and entertainment assets of 21st Century Fox that would top an offer on the table from Walt Disney Co. Comcast said it is in "advanced stages of preparing" the offer for the assets Fox agreed to sell to Disney in a stock deal announced in December. Malayalam film actor Vijayan Peringod passed away at Palakkad today following heart related ailments. He was 67 and is survived by wife and three children, family sources said. Known for his small but notable roles in many blockbuster movies, Vijayan was a permanent presence in the films of hitmakers like Lal Jose and Sathyan Anthikad. China box office tops N American market in first quarter
China surpassed North America to become the world's largest movie market during the first quarter of 2018, fuelled in part by big-grossing domestic films, according to US and Chinese box-office figures. China's movie market made 20.21 billion yuan ($3.17 billion) between January and March, according to the China Movie Data Information Network, while US trade journal Variety said the North America box office reached $2.85 billion. Almost three quarters of the revenue -- 15 billion yuan -- came from Chinese-produced movies, the China data showed. Of the top 10 films watched in China during the first quarter, seven were domestically produced, and Chinese-made movies occupied the top five slots.
