Vine sequel postponed for 'indefinite time'

Vine co-founder Dom Hofmann has announced that the service's sequel, called v2, has been postponed for an 'indefinite amount of time'.Vine, the now-defunct service, allowed users to create short looping video clips. Hofmann took to Twitter to announce the delay of the sequel.The reason for the delay is said to be funding and logistical issues, The Verge reported.When Hofmann announced the v2 project last year, he said it was without a plan, and projected for a summer release this year.However, despite the interest from original Vine fans, Hofmann is taking the time to work out the funding to release v2.Meanwhile, the v2 forums online will continue to run for discussions from the community and future announcements regarding the Vine successor.

A sequel to fantasy film 'Peter Rabbit' is on the cards for 2020, which will bring the bunny back with his old tricks.Titled 'Peter Rabbit 2', the movie will revolve around the popular character from the Beatrix Potter books and his shenanigans with his friends.The maker, Sony Pictures, is intent to bring in the next installment after the original film saw a huge success at the box office, early this year, according to The Hollywood Reporter.Will Gluck, director of the first installment will return behind the camera for the next installment as well.The film is set to hit the theaters on March 27, 2020.

'American Idol' renewed for season 2

"American Idol" revival has been renewed for second season by ABC. Judges Katy Perry, Luke Bryan, Lionel Richie are set to return next season along with host Ryan Seacrest, reported Deadline. "We knew that 'American Idol' on ABC would unleash an opportunity for singers from all walks of life to realise their dreams and that these incredible contestants would have America rooting for their success. "I am thrilled that Katy, Luke, Lionel and Ryan will be back to once again embark on this Idol journey with us to discover the next crop of inspiring talent," said Channing Dungey, president, ABC Entertainment. ABC's pickup of the singing competition ended a long saga of getting "American Idol" back on TV when the network closed a deal last year with FremantleMedia North America and CORE Media Group's 19 Entertainment for a revival, two seasons after it ended its 15-season run on Fox.

Sarika visits daughter Shruti Haasan on the sets of her next

Yesteryear diva Sarika paid a visit to her daughter Shruti Haasan on the sets of her upcoming film and the young actor says it was a memorable experience for her to get instant feedback from her mother. Shruti, 32, who is currently filming Mahesh Manjrekar's next directorial venture, said presence of her mother on the sets was a great moral booster. "It was great having my mum visit me on my film set. She and Maheshji have known each other socially before and they did manage to spend sometime and chat about our film and cinema in general. She was really encouraging of my work when she was watching me perform such an interesting and layered character under Maheshji's guidance. "It felt so special to have her on set as I don't usually have my family visit work. It was even more special as I got her valued feedback on my work and the whole experience was really memorable for me," Shruti said in a statement. Filmmaker Karan Johar is in mood to take up full-fledged acting jobs. The director-producer, who made his acting debut in Hindi films with Anurag Kashyap's box office debacle, "Bombay Velvet", believes he is a "big flop actor". Karan was recently seen in "Welcome to New York" and the film, featuring Sonakshi Sinha and Diljit Dosanjh, also bombed. When asked if he would like to take up acting offers in Marathi cinema, Karan said, "I am a big flop actor. None of my films run. I did 'Bombay Velvet' and 'Welcome to New York'. and both didn't work. Nobody should cast me in any film. I should not be taken. No viability with me. I am a very big flop actor." John Lithgow to play Jud Crandall in 'Pet Sematary' remake

Hollywood actor John Lithgow has been roped in to essay the character of Jud Crandall in the official remake of 'Pet Sematary'.The news has been confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter who also stated that Jason Clarke will also be a part of the horror film.The Paramount's adaptation comes from a 1983 novel of the same name, penned by legendary author Stephen King.The movie will see Lithgow, in the character of Crandall, as a lovely neighbour to a city family. The 1989 original had Fred Gwynne play the part.The horror-drama revolves around a doctor who brings his pet cat and his son back from the dead by following a ritual of burying the bodies in a specific burial ground.The film will be helmed by the director duo of Dennis Widmyer and Kevin Kolsch of 'Starry Eyes' fame.

'India Day' during Cannes to bring together Indian, French film industries

An 'India Day' will be organised at the 71st edition of the Cannes International Film Festival on May 11 to bring together the French and Indian film industries, the French Embassy here today announced. The Embassy of France in India and UniFrance, in charge of promoting French films abroad, will organise 'India Day' next Friday at Terrasse UniFrance, Cannes, according to an official statement. "This will mark the first of the regular professional meetings bringing together the French and Indian film industries, offering them opportunities to collaborate on common projects as well as augment the sales and distribution of Indian and French films," it said.
