Fully support severe punishment to rapists of minors: Anushka
Actor Anushka Sharma today said that she was "1,000 per cent" in support of the ordinance promulgated yesterday which provides stringent punishment, including"death"penalty, for those convicted of raping girls below the age of 12 years. Speaking to reporters today, Anushka said, "I am very happy with it. I will be completely, 1,000 per cent in support of the most severe punishment that there is (for someone) who spoils something as innocent as a child." The actor was asked about her opinion on the ordinance by mediapersons on the sidelines of a Standard Chartered banking event here. She called such crimes the "worst thing to do as a human being". Anushka added that, like everyone else, she was "deeply hurt and disgusted" by the Kathua incident in Jammu and Kashmir, in which an eight-year-old girl was held captive in a temple there and was repeatedly raped before being killed. Actress cries molestation in Odisha
Odia film and opera actress Usasi Misra has claimed that she was manhandled and molested by three persons at Derang village in Odisha's Angul district, where she was to perform. The actress lodged a complaint at the Kaniha police station, stating that while she and her managers were trying to reach the venue on her car to perform at an opera on Sunday night, a person used slangs and acted in an indecent manner. Police said that a man and his two sons allegedly manhandled the actress. "We talk of general women being safe... where a media figure like me is not safe... this man manhandled, bad mouthed me and tried to rip my clothes," she said, adding, "I gave a good fight and saved myself." Rajpal Yadav sentenced to jail, granted bail later
Bollywood actor Rajpal Yadav was sentenced to six months in prison by a Delhi court on Monday and was later granted bail in connection with a cheque bounce case.There were reportedly seven cases against the actor and he has to pay Rs 1.60 crore fine per case.Earlier, a case was registered which stated that Rajpal and his wife allegedly failed to repay a loan of Rs 5 crore, which the actor had taken from a Delhi-based businessman for his directorial debut in 2010.Yadav was also sent to Tihar Jail from December 3 to December 6 for submitting a false affidavit in the case.
