Mark Hamill honoured with star on Hollywood Walk of Fame

"Star Wars" franchise veteran Mark Hamill has been awarded with a star on the famous Hollywood Walk of Fame. The 66-year-old, best known for his role of Luke Skywalker in the hit series, was honoured in a ceremony in front of Los Angeles' El Capitan Theatre and it was attended by Harrison Ford and director George Lucas, along with robot R2-D2. David Chase developing prequel to 'The Sopranos'

David Chase, the creator of HBO's "The Sopranos", is planning a prequel to the hit series. New Line has bought the script of the prequel, which has a working title of "The Many Saints of Newark". It has been written by Chase and Lawrence Konner, who has also written for "The Sopranos" in the past. It will be set against the backdrop of the Newark riots of the 1960s when African-Americans and Italians were adversaries, reported Variety. "David is a masterful storyteller and we, along with our colleagues at HBO, are thrilled that he has decided to revisit, and enlarge, the 'Soprano' universe in a feature film," Warner Bros Pictures Group chairman Toby Emmerich said. The hit HBO series, headlined by James Gandolfini, ran for six seasons and won 21 Emmys. Edie Falco, Steven Van Zandt, Jamie Lynn Sigler, Lorraine Bracco, Michael Imperioli, Dominic Chianese, Steve Schirripa, and Tony Sirico also starred in the show.

Mackenzie Davis in talks for new 'Terminator' film

"Blade Runner 2049" actor Mackenzie Davis is in negotiations to star in the new "Terminator" film. If finalised, the 30-year-old star will join Linda Hamilton and Arnold Schwarzenegger in the latest instalment of the series, which will be helmed by "Deadpool" director Tim Miller. The film, which will be a direct sequel to "Terminator 2: Judgment Day", will be produced by James Cameron and David Ellison, reported Variety. Schwarzenegger will reprise his role of cyborg T-800 while Hamilton will be making a comeback to series with her character Sarah Connor. The movie is scheduled to be released on July 26 next year. Schwarzenegger had recently said that on the project will start in June this year.

Jon Favreau to pen new live-action 'Star Wars' series

"The Jungle Book" director Jon Favreau has signed on to write a live-action 'Star Wars' series for Disney. Favreau, 51, whose directorial credits also includes "Iron Man" and "Iron Man 2", will also executive produce the series which will be launched on Disney's streaming platform. Bee attack in Odisha state secretariat

The state secretariat here was today attacked by a swarm of bees when a group of tribal people were at its lawn to shoot a promotional video, official sources said. Several government officials, security personnel and media persons were also attacked by the bees. Some of these people were taken to hospital, all had been released after first aid, the sources said. The tribal people belonging to 62 tribes from nine districts of the state are scheduled to participate in a programme tomorrow. They had assembled at the secretariat lawn to shoot a promotional video with Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. The shooting was cancelled in view of the bees attack, the sources said.

The New York Times has gone back in time to remember the contribution of these women by writing their obituary in a new segment called 'Overlooked'. "Since 1851, obituaries in the New York Times have been dominated by white men. Now, we are adding the stories of 15 remarkable women," the newspaper wrote. Documentary 'Ladies First' traces Deepika's journey from Ranchi to Rio

The International Women's Day could not have been more special for Indian archer Deepika Kumari as a documentary on her life - Ladies First - was released for worldwide streaming today. The 39-minute documentary released on Netflix with subtitles in 28 languages, traces a poverty-stricken Deepika's journey from Ratu Road in Ranchi to Rio Olympics where she lost in the pre-quarters of individual section and last-eight in the team event.
