Rachel Morrison, Diane Warren join #MeToo documentary

Cinematographer Rachel Morrison and songwriter Diane Warren have boarded the untitled documentary on #MeToo movement. Morrison will be a consultant while Warren will be penning a song for the project, which will be helmed by Amy Ziering and Kirby Dick, reported Variety. Morrison, 39, is the first woman cinematographer to be ever nominated for an Academy Award for her work on the film "Mudbound". Warren, who has been nominated for Oscars nine times, bagged another nod with rapper Common this year for "Stand Up For Something" from "Marshall". The documentary was announced in October after the Harvey Weinstein scandal broke in Hollywood and opened floodgates of similar sexual harassment and sexual assault revelations in the industry. "I'm excited to collaborate and consult with Amy and Kirby on this powerful and socially important film," said Morrison. "As a huge fan of their work, I'm looking forward to teaming with Amy and Kirby again on another game-changing film," said Warren.

Real voices behind 'Emosanal Attyachar' revealed 9 years after the release of Dev D

For nine years, the legend went, two obscure singers hailing from Himachal Pradesh were the voices behind 'Emosanal Atyachar', from "Dev D", until now when composer Amit Trivedi reveals it was actually him and lyricist Amitabh Bhattacharya who crooned the song. The 2009 Anurag Kashyap film became extremely popular for its music by Trivedi. While all the songs were loved, 'Emosanal Atyachar' went on to become the biggest hit and established itself in the pop culture for years to come by. Interestingly, the song was credited to two unknown singers- Band master Rangeela and Rasila. Both Kashyap and Trivedi were tight lipped about them and maintained that the duo had vanished without a trace post recording. In an interview with PTI, Trivedi spills the beans on how the song was composed for the film, which released in February of 2009. "Anurag wanted the song to be in a specific way. It was his vision. Disney moves 'Mulan' reboot to March 2020

Disney has announced that it has postponed the release on live action remake of "Mulan" to March 2020. Director by Directed by Niki Caro, the movie will star Chinese singer-actor Liu Yifei, who is also known as Crystal Liu. The film was earlier supposed to hit the theatres on November 2 this year. A team of casting directors had visited five continents and saw nearly 1,000 candidates for Disney's retelling of the classic 1998 animated musical hit, reported Variety. Disney has also made other changes to its release calendar, including moving up the release of Marvel's "Avengers: Infinity War" by a week to April 27, 2018. The company also announced that its untitled Christopher Robin projected will be officially called "Christopher Robin". It has also removed "Noelle", which was earlier titled "Nicole" and will feature Anna Kendrick as a female Santa Claus, from the its calendar. It had been set for November 8, 2019 release. On the Marvel front, Disney moved up an untitled film to July .

Warren Beatty, Faye Dunaway may return to present best picture Oscar

Hollywood veterans Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway will reportedly present the Academy Award for Best Picture during the Oscars ceremony, a year after their infamous mix-up. The "Bonnie and Clyde" pair was involved in the goof up where Damien Chazelle's "La La Land", which ultimately went home with six trophies including best director and actress, was mistakenly adjudged the best picture winner in place of Barry Jenkin's "Moonlight". The error was later found on the part of the accountants at PricewaterhouseCoopers, who had mixed up the envelope for best actress with that of best picture. According to TMZ, the pair has rehearsed the moment in advance of this year's Academy Awards ceremony at the Dolby Theater. Other presenters at the Oscars include Sandra Bullock, Lupita Nyong'o, Emily Blunt, Armie Hammer, Tiffany Haddish, Jodie Foster and Gal Gadot. The ceremony will take place on March 4 and will be once again hosted by Jimmy Kimmel.

Harvey Weinstein 'Casting Couch' statue unveiled ahead of Oscars

A Harvey Weinstein statue entitled "Casting Couch" has debuted on Hollywood Boulevard, ahead of the 90th Academy Awards. The golden statue shows the disgraced producer sitting on a coach wearing a slightly opened bathrobe with an Oscar in his right hand. The placement of the figure is close to the Dolby Theatre, where the Academy Awards takes place. According to ABC News, Los Angeles street artistes Plastic Jesus and Joshua "Ginger" Monroe collaborated on the sculpture. Monroe was also behind the 2016 statue of a nude Donald Trump that appeared in multiple cities across the US. "There's so much about Hollywood that's great and celebrated in the Oscars, but there's also this underbelly of darkness within the industry that we often sweep under the carpet or ignore," said Jesus. Weinstein has been accused by dozens of women of sexual harassment or sexual assault, including rape. He has denied all allegations of non-consensual sex, but apologised for "the way I've behaved with colleagues .

Bryan Cranston joins 'The One And Only Ivan'

Bryan Cranston has come on board an upcoming Disney film project called "The One and Only Ivan". He joins Angelina Jolie and Sam Rockwell in the live-action animation hybrid film. Adapted from Katherine Applegate and illustrator Patricia Castelao's tome by Mike White, the story follows a silverback gorilla (the titular Ivan, a CG character to be voiced by Rockwell), who lives in a cage at the Big Top Mall and Video Arcade. Ivan does not remember life before the mall, but when the baby elephant Ruby enters his life, Ivan finds himself taking care of her and working on a plan to take Ruby away from their abusive owner. Cranston will be part of the cast, playing the mean owner of the mall who is cruel to his animal performers, reported Empire online. Thea Sharrock is directing the project.

Witherspoon, Washington to star in, produce 'Little Fires Everywhere' adaptation

Actors Reese Witherspoon and Kerry Washington are teaming up for a new TV series "Little Fires Everywhere". Witherspoon, 41, and Washington, 41, will star in and executive produce the limited series, which is based on Celeste Ng's best-selling novel of the name same. The two will develop the project through their respective production companies -- Witherspoon's Hello Sunshine and Washington's Simpson Street -- along with ABC Signature Studios, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Liz Tigelaar has adapted the script for the show and will also serve as executive producer and showrunner. Ng will act as the producer. Ng's novel is based in the wealthy town of Shaker Heights, Ohio, which torn apart after a white couple adopts a Chinese-American infant and the baby's birth mother wants her child back. Witherspoon also shared news on her Instagram page and posted, "Y'all! I'm so excited to tell you that Kerry Washington and I will be bringing 'Little Fires Everywhere' to the screen together!

Demian Bichir to star in Eva Longoria's 'Grand Hotel'

Oscar nominated actor Demian Bichir has been roped in to play the lead role in ABC's "Grand Hotel" drama pilot. Eva Longoria is serving as executive producer on the show, reported Variety. The project is described as a soapy drama set against the backdrop of a Miami Beach hotel. It will center around the family who owns the business, the staff who run it, and the explosive secrets they hide under the perfect exterior. It is based on the Spanish series "Gran Hotel." Bichir will play Gonzalo Cardenas, described as the handsome and charismatic owner of the Grand Riviera Hotel. "There was no one else I could envision in the role of Gonzalo. I've done two movies with Demian and he acts with a quiet force that conveys the strength this character needs. I am so excited to be assembling this all-star cast that reflects the world in which we live," said Longoria. Bichir was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actor for the 2011 drama "A Better Life.

Mark Wahlberg's 'Six Billion Dollar Man' to release in May 2019

Hollywood star Mark Wahlberg's sci-fi action movie "The Six Billion Dollar Man" is set to release on May 31, 2019. Warner Bros bought the rights to the project late last year from the Weinstein Company, which had been developing the movie with Damian Szifron attached to direct, reported Variety. The movie is based on the science-fiction television series of the same name, which revolved around a former astronaut, Colonel Steve Austin, portrayed by Lee Majors. Austin's character had superhuman strength due to bionic implants and was employed as a secret agent. The series ran for five seasons on ABC between 1973 and 1978 and was based on the Martin Caidin novel "Cyborg." Warner Bros also announced that its romance drama "The Sun Is Also a Star" would release on May 17, 2019.
