'Reservation', 'Excavator' win top prizes at BIFFES 2018

"Reservation" and South Korean movie "Excavator" today won top honours at the Bengaluru International Film Festival 2018. "Reservation", directed by Nikhil Manjoo, bagged the Karnataka Chalanchitra Academy Award under the Kannada Competition category. "Excavator" by Ju-Hyoung Lee received the Best Asian Film - NETPAC Award. P Sheshadri-directed "Beti" bagged the NETPAC International Jury Award for Kannada film. In the Kannada Cinema Popular Entertainment category, "Raajakumara", directed by Santhosh Ananddram, was named the winner. Chezhian Ra's Tamil drama "To-Let" won the FIPRESCI India - P K Nair Memorial Award. The Chitra Bharathi Award went to Bengali film "Mayurakshi" by Atanu Ghosh, while Assamese film "Ishu", directed by Utpal Borpujari received Special Jury Mention. The 10th edition of the BIFFES, which began on February 22, ended today.

Clover Wootton, who designed the eerie look for actor Anushka Sharma in "Pari", says she once lied about the actor's role to Ranbir Kapoor. Clover, who is also working on the Dutt biopic with Ranbir, decided to trick the star into believing that his "Ae Dil Hai Mushkil" co-actor was playing the character of a dog woman in the upcoming movie. Producers' council, digital service providers tiff intensifies

: The tiff between film financiers and digital service providers over the latter's print fee, intensified in Tamil Nadu with the Producers' Council going ahead with its decision not to release any new films from today. Tamil Film Producers' Council and the Digital Service Providers (DSPs) are up in arms over the pricing of the Digital Print Fee. Theatre owners who do not have their own projectors hire them from digital service providers and pay a 'Digital Print Fee'. The Film Producers' Council alleged that they are forced to pay the fee instead of theatre owners paying it. At a meeting held yesterday, it was decided to go ahead with the earlier move to not release any new films from today (March 1) as the talks with digital service providers remained "inconclusive," a release from Tamil Film Producers' Council said. GSFC commissions film grade nylon plant

Gujarat State Fertilisers and Chemicals Ltd (GSFC) today said it has commissioned a plant to produce film grade nylon. In a regulatory filing, GSFC informed that the company has "successfully commissioned its Film Grade Nylon-6 (Engineering grade) Project on February 28, 2018." The plant can produce 15 tonnes per day of film grade nylon of varieties like lubricated chips, nucleated chips and combination of lubricated and nucleated chips. Film grade Nylon-6 is being imported from Germany in India since years as there is no manufacturer. "With commencement of production of Film Grade Nylon-6, GSFC enters into import substitute product across the country. Indian plastic industries will immensely benefit with addition of film grade Nylon-6," the company said.

Tony Cavalero to star as Ozzy Osbourne in 'The Dirt'

Actor Tony Cavalero has been roped in to play rocker Ozzy Osbourne in Motley Crue biopic titled "The Dirt". The film is being directed by Jeff Tremaine, which is based on the 2001 autobiography "The Dirt: Confessions of the World's Most Notorious Rock Band", according to The Hollywood Reporter. The book has been penned by band members Tommy Lee, Vince Neil, Mick Mars, and Nikki Sixx, along with author Neil Strauss. Osbourne shot to fame as the lead vocalist of the heavy metal band Black Sabbath in the 1970s and was sacked from the group in 1979. He emerged as a bigger name in the 1980s with Motley Crue, which combined hard rock, heavy metal and glam rock and went on to sell over 100 million albums worldwide. The script has been adapted by Rich Wilkes, Tom Kapinos, and Amanda Adelson. "The Dirt" also features Douglas Booth as Nikki Sixx, Iwan Rheon as Mick Mars, Daniel Webber as Vince Neil and rapper Machine Gun Kelly as Tommy Lee. Netflix has bought the rights to the project.
