Selma Blair aggrieved with 'Hellboy' reboot

Actor Selma Blair has said she felt "heartbroken" with "Hellboy" series getting a reboot. The actor played the pyrokinetic Liz Sherman in Guillermo del Toro's "Hellboy" and "Hellboy II: The Golden Army", that had Ron Perlman essaying the titular character. "God, you know, people are fans of Hellboy and also fans of Guillermo," Blair told CinemaBlend. "So part of us, the ones that were so loyal to Guillermo, our hearts are broken that it didn't work out with the greatest third instalment ever written that I wish I could play more than anything in the world," she added. The reboot has been titled "Hellboy: Rise of the Blood Queen" and will have "Stranger Things" star David Harbour in the titular role. The film will be directed by Neil Marshall and the cast also includes Ian McShane and Milla Jovovich. HBO orders J J Abrams' sci-fi drama 'Demimonde' to series

J J Abrams' science-fiction drama "Demimonde" has landed a series order at HBO. The premium-cable network snatched the project after a bidding war with Apple and has given a straight-to-series order. With the project, the HBO has expanded its collaboration with the "Star Trek" director who also serves as the executive producer on the show "Westworld", according to The Hollywood Reporter. It is described as an epic and intimate sci-fi fantasy drama that deals with the world's battle against a monstrous, oppressive force. Abrams will write the pilot and serve as executive producer, alongside Ben Stephenson, who runs the TV division of Abrams' production company Bad Robot.

FIR filed against Congress MLA in rape case

An FIR has been filed against Congress MLA Hemant Katare in connection with a rape case.Earlier the police had registered an FIR by Katare against the alleged victim, who Katare claimed was blackmailing him.According to the reports, the alleged victim is said to be a journalism student and was arrested by Bhopal crime branch on Katare's complain.The woman had then written a letter to the jail's Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) alleging that Katare had raped her.Acting on the charges written in the letter, the woman police station filed an FIR in the case against MLA Katare.According to reports, Katare has gone 'underground' after the FIR was filed.

F Gary Gray in talks to direct 'Men in Black' spin-off

Director F Gary Gray is in negotiations to helm the "Men in Black" spin-off film. If finalised, "The Fate of the Furious" director will helm the project with a script from "Iron Man" scribes Matt Holloway and Art Marcum, reported Variety. Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones are not expected to return in the film, which is meant to launch a new franchise with fresh talent involved. Sony had originally planned to combine the "Men and Black" and "21 Jump Street" franchises, but have since shelved that idea. Walter F Parkes and Laurie MacDonald are producing with Steven Spielberg executive producing. David Beaubaire is overseeing the project for Sony. The original movie followed Smith and Jones, who played agents of a secret organisation, known as the Men in Black, and protected Earth from intergalactic bad guys. The first film was a major critical and commercial success, and was followed by two more sequels. The three films hauled a cumulative USD 1.7 billion worldwide.

Andy Serkis to get Motion Picture Showman of the Year Award

Actor Andy Serkis will be honoured with the Motion Picture Showman of the Year Award during the 55th International Cinematographers Guild's Publicists Awards. The 53-year-old actor starred in two blockbuster films last year, "War of the Planet of the Apes" and "Star Wars: The Last Jedi", and is considered a pioneer in the field of motion capture. Serkis will be feted at a ceremony which will be held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on March 2. "Andy Serkis, with his unparallelled flexibility and understanding of movement, has made motion capture his own. After the success of her show "This is Us", actor Chrissy Metz will star in the film "The Impossible". The film will be directed by Roxann Dawson, while Grant Nieporte is penning the script, reported Deadline. It is based on Joyce Smith's book "The Impossible: The Miraculous Story of a Mother's Faith and Her Child's Resurrection". The story is about the astounding recovery of a teenage boy named John who had been lifeless for an hour at the hospital after falling through the ice on a frozen lake in Missouri. KJ Apa to star in romantic comedy 'The Last Summer'

"Riverdale" star KJ Apa has been cast as the lead in the romantic comedy "The Last Summer". The 20-year-old actor will lead an ensemble cast in the film, which will be directed by Bill Bindley, reported Variety. 'Downton Abbey' creator's 'The Gilded Age' gets series order

"Downton Abbey" creator Julian Fellowes' period drama "The Gilded Age" is finally moving ahead at the NBC. The show has received a 10-episode order at the studio for premiere in 2019, the NBC said in a statement. The series will be produced by Universal Television and executive produced by Fellowes and fellow Downton executive producer Gareth Neame. Hyderabad: Girl raped inside movie theatre, accused arrested

A man has been arrested for allegedly raping a 19-year-old-girl inside a movie theatre in Telangana's Hyderabad city.The victim, who became friends with the accused through social media, went to watch the film Padmaavat in Prashanth Theatre when she was allegedly sexually assaulted.According to Mathaiah, Circle Inspector, "The girl was raped inside a movie theatre. Two months back, the victim and the accused became friends through social media."The accused took advantage of the fact that there were only a few people in the theatre and nobody was near them, said police.The accused was arrested on January 31 and on the following day; he was remanded to judicial custody.The victim received severe injuries on her private parts and is undergoing treatment now.A case has been registered under section 376 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and action has also been initiated against the theatre owner for negligence.

Businessman arrested on charge of stalking former actress

A 38-year-old businessman was today arrested for allegedly stalking a yesteryear Bollywood actress. Sarfaraz alias Aman Khanna, the accused, was arrested today evening, DCP (Zone IX) Paramjit Singh Dahiya said. The actress had filed a complaint against Khanna at the Juhu police station on Monday. The accused and the actress were acquaintances, but she had stopped speaking to him following a dispute, the police official said. However, Khanna kept calling the actress and even stalked her on some occasions, she said in her complaint. Police have registered a case under IPC sections 354 (D) (stalking), 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) and other relevant sections.
