'Fukrey Returns' enters 100 cr club

Pulkit Samrat and Richa Chadha's 'Fukrey Returns' has entered the coveted Rs 100 crore club.According to reports, the film's collection, on its third week, is Rs 101.78 crore at the Worldwide Box Office, with Rs. 93.02 crore gross coming in from the domestic market.'Fukrey Returns' also stars Varun Sharma, Pulkit Samrat and Manjot Singh in the lead roles and marks the second installment of the 'Fukrey' franchise.It is co-produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani under the banner of Excel Entertainment and is directed by Mrighdeep Singh Lamba.The film revolves around four Delhi-based boys, who along with a deadly don, get caught up in a politician's web of lies and deceit.

If BJP had a film franchise it would be called Lie Hard: Rahul

After accusing the BJP of having an "architecture and foundation based on lies", Congress president Rahul Gandhi today took a swipe at the ruling party saying if it had a film franchise it would be called "Lie Hard". "If BJP had a film franchise it would be called Lie Hard," he said on Twitter, while rhyming it with Hollywood action blockbuster "Die Hard". His attack on the BJP came a day after he accused the ruling dispensation of having its structure and foundation based on lies. He was speaking at the meeting of Congress's highest decision-making body, its Working Committee. Gandhi has been using one-liner laced with satire to target the BJP in recent months. Gandhi also used three taglines on Twitter along with his remark. The new Congress chief's attack came after the BJP targeted him for watching the film "Star Wars" on the day election results for Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh were announced and his party lost the elections.

Radio station partners with Goa airport to start airport radio

The Airports Authority of India (AAI) and radio station Indigo 91.9 FM announced their partnership today with the launch of Goa Airport Radio at the Goa International Airport. A spokesperson for the radio station said that the service will have specially curated music for passengers at the airport. "An exclusive jockey would interact with passengers, announce utility and flight related information as well as play music," the spokesperson added. Speaking at the launch, BCH Negi, Goa airport director said that the airport is unique in the kind of passengers it handled with data showing that more than 65 percent of them were below 40 years of age. Satyanaryana Murthy, CEO of Indigo 91.9 FM said, "We are excited to partner with the Goa International Airport. We are confident that the flyers will have a great experience listening to our handpicked international music.

Was asked to join panel to certify "Padmavati": Former royal

The censor board asked the erstwhile Mewar royal family to join a panel to help certify Sanjay Leela Bhansali's "Padmavati", which had angered Rajput community leaders for allegedly portraying the queen in a 'bad light', a member of the family said today. Vishvaraj Singh of the Mewar royal family told PTI that Prasoon Joshi, chief of Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), requested him to join the panel over a phone call on Thursday. Singh said he wrote to the CBFC chairman and sought a reply on seven points related to the film. He said he would respond to the offer after he gets the reply. Singh said he sought clarification on the genre under which the film was seeking certification. Security tightened at Salman Khan's residence

To avoid any untoward incident, Mumba ipolice on Saturday tightened security around Bollywood star Salman Khan's residence in the wake of him allegedly maligning the Scheduled Castes during a television show.A complaint has been filed against Khan and actress Shilpa Shetty at Mumbai's Andheri Police station for referring to the Scheduled Castes as 'Bhangi' in separate shows.The National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC) has sought a reply from the Information and Broadcasting Ministry and the police commissioners of Delhi and Mumbai on the same issue.The NCSC has demanded a reply on the action taken against both actors as per the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Prevention of Atrocities Act, 2015, within a week.The commission issued a notice after receiving a complaint from former an ex-chairman of the Delhi Commission for Safai Karamcharis, Harnam Singh.Singh, in his complaint, said that the actors used the word 'bhangi' in TV shows which clearly insults the entire Valmiki .

'Tiger Zinda Hai' mints Rs 33.75 crore on first day

Salman Khan has bounced back at the office with his latest film "Tiger Zinda Hai", which raked in Rs 33.75 crore on its opening day. Directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, "Tiger Zinda Hai" is a sequel to 2012 hit film "Ek Tha Tiger" and also stars Katrina Kaif, Angad Bedi, Kumud Mishra, and Nawab Shah. Salman seems to have shrugged off the rough patch after the dim performance of "Tubelight", which was not able to break the opening records of superstar's previous Eid outings "Bajrangi Bhaijaan" and "Sultan".
