David Ayer talks about Mumbai and his love for cutting chai

It was a short trip but "Suicide Squad" director David Ayer found time to roam the streets of Mumbai and discover his love for 'cutting chai' in the Chor Bazaar, which he quaintly referred to as the 'thieves market'. The director, who arrived here for the India premiere of his Netflix sci-fi crime thriller "Bright" with lead stars Will Smith, Joel Edgerton and Noomi Rapace, loves cities and Mumbai bewitched him with its "energy". "I just went to the thieves market and everyone was drinking it (the tea). I already had two," Ayer said as he sat for an interview over a glass of 'cutting chai', which translates into half portion of tea and is sold on streetside stalls in Mumbai. "I really want to shoot a movie here. It is an amazing city. I love it. The energy, the people, it is incredible. In a lot of ways, India is the future. It has evolved so much so fast," he told PTI. The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) on Wednesday said that if Marathi film 'Deva' is not given prime time screen space over Salman Khan-starrer 'Ek Tha Tiger', it will not allow Yash Raj Films to shoot hereafter in Maharashtra.MNS film division head Amey Khopkar said that he has written to the film production and distribution company regarding this issue."I have sent a letter to Yash Raj Films. If they're ready to give screen space to Marathi Films, 'Deva' in this case, then there is no need for us opposing it. Rani Mukerji's 'Hichki' based on Brad Cohen's autobiography

Rani Mukerji's "Hichki" is based on Brad Cohen's acclaimed autobiography "Front of the Class". Yash Raj Films has acquired the rights of Cohen's autobiography for "Hichki", which celebrates self-belief and resilience of human spirit. The book, which also inspired the Peter Werner-directed Hallmakr TV film of the same name, deals with a man who has Tourette syndrome. "Hichki" marks Rani's return to cinema after three years. John Legend to play Jesus of Nazareth in live musical

John Legend has joined "Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert" and the singer will be seen essaying the title role of Jesus of Nazareth in the musical. The NBC show will bow on April 1. Andy Serkis' 'Jungle Book: Origins' retitled to 'Mowgli'

Andy Serkis' dark take on Rudyard Kipling's classic "The Jungle Book" has a new name, "Mowgli". Warner Bros has changed the title of the live-action movie, which was earlier named "Jungle Book: Origins". Serkis is directing the film, which is scheduled to be released on October 19 next year, reported Variety. The film follows Mowgli (Rohan Chand), who is raised by a pack of wolves as he follows the rules of the jungle. Serkis voice stars as the fun-loving bear, Baloo and Christian Bale lends his voice to the sombre panther, Bagheera - the man cub's friends. Filmmaker Ridley Scott "immediately" decided to fire Kevin Spacey from his film "All the Money in the World" when he heard about the sexual allegations levelled against the actor.
