Regret how Dark Phoenix story was handled in 'X-Men: The Last Stand': Simon Kinberg

Filmmaker Simon Kinberg says "X-Men: The Last Stand" could have given a more wholesome treatment to the story of telepathic and telekinetic mutant, Jean Grey/Dark Phoenix. Kinberg, who served as the writer for the 2006 film, said they were unable to go "cosmic" with the subplot. "I really felt that one of the mistakes we made with 'X-Men 3', which told, in a way, the Dark Phoenix story but it was the subplot of that film, one of the mistakes we made was that we didn't go cosmic with it, like the comics," the director told DigitalSpy on the sidelines of WonderCon. Famke Janssen has starred as Jean Grey in four "X-Men" films and Sophie Turner took over the role in 2016's "X-Men: Apocalypse" as the mutant's younger version. The "Game of Thrones" star reprises the role in the upcoming "X-Men: Dark Phoenix", which marks Kinberg's directorial debut. He added the new film is an "opportunity" to redo the story at a time when the comic book superhero genre is undergoing evolution. "I think ...

Modi good actor, magician who performs many tricks: Abdullah

National Conference (NC) president Farooq Abdullah on Tuesday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi was a good actor who had surpassed several established actors and a magician who performed many tricks. He also alleged that the BJP-led central government had failed on all fronts and was "milking" the situation in the aftermath of the February 14 Pulwama terror attack to hide its "failures". "The incumbent Modi government failed on all fronts. However, they saw a way out in hiding behind the Pulwama attack. When many CRPF jawans were killed in Chhattisgarh, Modi did not go there. The sacrifice of the CRPF men in Chhattisgarh did not move him, he remained unfazed. "Not just that, when the bodies of the slain CRPF men (in the Pulwama attack) were brought to Delhi, Modi was busy in a shooting. The bodies of the slain CRPF men were kept waiting for the tributes, which were to be paid by him," Abdullah told a rally in Ganderbal.
