Comedies are best suited for theatres, says Seth Rogen

Actors Seth Rogen and Charlize Theron, who co-stars in comedy "Long Shot", believes theatres are the best place to watch films. According to Variety, during a panel discussion on the sidelines of the South by Southwest Festival, the two actors and their "Long Shot" director Jonathan Levine were asked about the recent debate around streaming services vs theatres. The debate has picked up steam after the news of veteran filmmaker Steven Spielberg's decision to approach the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) and insist for ban on them from the Oscars. "Personally, with our comedies, I think a theatre is the best place to see them," Rogen said, while recalling his experiences of watching "There's Something About Mary" and "South Park" in a theatre. Actor Chiwetel Ejiofor has admitted that his "Love Actually" co-star Andrew Lincoln's character in the film was a bit "problematic". In the 2003 Richard Curtis-directed Christmas romantic comedy, Lincoln played the charming Mark, who is obsessively in love with Juliet (Keira Knightley), the wife of his friend Peter, who was portrayed by Ejiofor. People have come to consider Mark's character to be problematic, with some labelling his behaviour as that of a stalker and a creep. Actors, filmmakers join rally to protest withdrawal of film from theatres

Icons of Bengali film industry, including Aparna Sen and Soumitra Chatterjee, took part in a rally here Sunday protesting withdrawal of political satire movie 'Bhobishyoter Bhoot' (Future Ghosts) from cinema halls in the city. The film was allegedly withdrawn from single-screen theatres and multiplexes a day after its release on February 16. Director of the film, Anik Dutta, has alleged that the owners of the theatres were forced to stop the screening though it ran to packed houses in many places on the day it released. Legendary actor Soumitra Chatterjee, directors Aparna Sen and Buddhadeb Dasgupta were among those who walked in the protest rally from Madhusudan Manch in Dhakuria to Jadavpur in south Kolkata. Vivek Oberoi hurt while shooting for Modi biopic

Actor Vivek Oberoi on Saturday hurt himself while shooting for the biopic on Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the picturesque Harshil valley of Uttarkashi district in Uttarakhand. Vital parts of the movie chronicling Modi's early life and political journey are being shot in the district at places like Ganga ghat, Kalp Kedar Mandir and the suspension bridge connecting Dharali bazar and Mukhba village. Oberoi hurt himself slightly in the leg while shooting a scene which shows Modi walking barefoot on snow at Ganga ghat near Dharali village. Doctors immediately did a stitch on the actor's leg who had got a cut from the pointed branch of a tree. However, unit members said the actor is fine and has resumed shooting. The scene showing Modi unfurling the national flag at Srinagar's Lal Chawk along with other BJP leaders was also shot on a set erected in Dharali bazar. The film is being directed by Omung Kumar, who is best known for films such as "Mary Kom" and "Sarabjit".

Actor Julianne Moore has revealed that she was "fired" from Marialle Heller-directed film "Can You Ever Forgive Me?". Moore was originally supposed to play the lead character of literary forger Lee Israel in the movie. Nicole Holofcener, who co-wrote the film's screenplay with Jeff Whitty, was set to direct the project. The actor, however, left the project, while Holofcener vacated the director's chair for Heller.
